was it fragrant??? .. smell everything that blooms in august ....

most of us get a vast majority of our plants.. mail order ... we have quite a few favored vendors ... they are hosta SELLERS... not breeders ... that word means something else ..

Joy Ride was put on the market just this year by Walters Gardens so it is unlikely that many people will have mature ones. Hans Hansen is the originator.

Yours is a nice size for a new plant and should look great next year!

Thank you all for your comments. As to the scent, Joy Ride does not seem to have one, unfortunately. I do have several old hostas in front of my home that were planted over 10 years ago - well before I moved in. They are quite fragrant and the size of the white blooms and glossy, dark green leaves suggest that they may be Hosta plantaginea. On hot, summer nights like this, I thank the person who owned the home before us for planting them right outside our front windows.
