ID an older hosta

Just moved this hosta today. It was being crowded out by my Seiboldianas. The slugs have had a party with it this year and it hasnt flowered. It has been in complete shade and is a very light green. Hopefully it will be happy in its new spot. This has been in my yard for 10 years or longer. Any suggestions for a name for her? Will be appreciated.

Looks like Fragrant Bouquet.

Well, I will start the guessing off with Sea Dream or Fragrant Bouquet. I just got a division from a friend of Sea Dream and it has longer petioles so I guess that would be my first choice. I am a newbie so my guess is exactly that - a guess. I'm sure some experts will weigh in soon.

I have a Sea Dream. The leaves on this unnamed hosta are rounder. Does that make a difference????

Sherry: I think you are right. The NOID does have rounder leaves so I think I will vote for Fragrant Bouquet now.

Kate, thanks for the picture of your FB. I think that is the closest so far. I have been gardening with hostas for a long time but hadnt been interested in the names till recently. I just bought what i liked and planted : )

If you get blooming flowers on your plant, make sure you sniff 'em. They smell wonderful. As you may already know : )

Sherry I'm in the same boat as you. Only reason I know its FB as it was ID'd for me a few weeks ago! :)

Yep, I agree if it is an older hosta, Fragrant Bouquet is your best bet. It was the starting point for a great many more modern ones. Lovely fragrance.

And Don's Diana Remembered is another nice fragrant one. It sported and now there is one which came out recently named Royal Wedding. I think that is so cool to name the sport for the British Royal Wedding, since hosta Diana Remembered is named for the groom's mother.

Thank you, Mocc. I just returned to edit my post; I realized I didn't mention DR was a fragrant. Mine didn't bloom last season, but it is now. Strength of fragrance is right up there with Guacamole, Fragrant Bouquet and Fried Bananas (at least on this particular individual DR).

Not to fret, it gave me a chance to pipe up--like I ever need one? ha!

I separated Diana Remembered from her constant companion, Sharp Dressed Man, and she seems to be pining for him. Better get him away from June before she dies of a broken heart.
