Sept 1, 2013. Ooops, I got complacent with the Liquid Fence and the deer got her. I had been doing so well this year with very little deer damage, then one night they got me. June, Fortunei Aureomarginata gnawed to the ground, Ginsu Knife gone, plantaginea half gone. The trials and tribulations of hosta gardening in the woods!

Your June sure was pretty. Hopefully, she will come back again next year even better. One can never predict what will happen in the future. You just never know what is around the corner. I was very pleased with my potted hostas this year and thought I would post pictures to show just how nice they looked later in the season and how well they grew in their pots. Well, then the hail came. The hostas are still doing well, but when I see the cracks and nicks in the leaves, I think "that stupid hail."

I like your 'Progression Posts'. If you have more, please show us. Nice broad leaves on your 'June'.

Nice posting, June has always been my favorite. Very little slug damage, longest lasting into the fall and fast growing.

Surprising how much they change in a year, even the colors. I moved June to full shade looking for the darker color, but now I've seen yours, I want the brighter version again.

A plague on deer and rabbits! They're cute, as long as they stick to the woods and lawn, but they've done a lot of damage this year. Small Wonder, the Japanese Painted Ferns, the hakone grass, all gone. The only consolation is the plants seem to snap back in spring. This late in the season the hostas are starting to go dormant anyhow. June will be bigger than ever next year.
