Color change or issue?

While thinning the white impatiens I went nuts with this spring, uncovered this little hosta. It came from my moms garden. She planted it 5 years ago and thought it was gone since you couldnt see it through the english ivy that had taken over the bed. While digging up her Halcyon actually stepped on the poor thing. Also the deer munched on it not long after planting it. I'm assuming in 5 years it started shrinking because of the ivy and maybe roots from the apple tree? It is tiny and sorta an ugly duckling. Today I noticed the spots. Hadn't really looked at it since planting it. Plus being swollowed again by white flowers, it pretty much has stayed hidden.

Concern or not? Only asking because my nice hostas are in this raised bed. Little thing needs to be moved if it is a concern.

Hi, Bungalow...that looks like H. 'Revolution' on that leaf. Good rescue! If it is Revolution, here is it's potential...

No concern. That's something that some white centered varieties do, like Whirlwind. They green up over the course of the growing season.

That revolution is a nice looking hosta. Thank you Steve, good to know it is not a concern. I'll leave it be and hope it grows some next year.

looks more like the white centered undulata.. greening up ...

its normal.. whichever named plant it is...

refresh my memory.. is mom a collector... or has the mother plant been sitting in her yard for 50 years?????

Not a collector at all, actually hates gardening. She has a bed with a huge apple tree and about 5 years ago planted 10ish hostas and english ivy under it. All but three hostas survived, the halcyon, this one and this other tiny thing. When I decided to start collecting hostas, she said scoop them up. At the end of June both had flowers about to bloom, never got to see what color because the deer nibbled them.
