Beautiful! OK, that is going on my have-to-have list!

Curious to know what would make the flower buds abort. Is that typical with this variety? Is it simply a case of waiting for the plant to mature?

Thanks all! Hostanista I hope it is not typical. I think this plant was really just too young to support that flower stalk though.

Seems to be a not-too-uncommon occurance with plantaginea sports and hybrids, Hostanista (I read about this issue fairly often on this forum, anyway). Kinda finicky, eh?

You could read up on h.'Aphrodite', which needs sun and a lot of water, and years, to successfully bloom. There is a thread on here right now.

Got Athena this spring...love the way your s looks. No blooms yet, no scapes. Buds not open on Aphrodite either. Won't give up though.
