Mine put on a lot of growth in September as well. Perhaps in your case the fertilizer in the fresh potting mix told it, "growing time!" Too bad it is so close to freezing night temps.

I don't know about that? My Fire Island has more coming up, too and not even close to unfurling, as in just came through the soil. Fire Island last year also had a late growth spurt. But, oh well. It is still 80's and 90's here so I am sure they are confused. Freeze here doesn't normally happen until mid to late November but we'll see I guess.
