You both will love it. It is fast-growing,(at least for me) and is a really neat color early in the season, but turns greener later on. Mine is 3 years old this year. Phil

Maybe not right place to post this but -- being a Newbie with hostas, since there seems to be SO many varieties that look similiar (at least to me)...how do you know what you have if you don't buy it (with a label)?

I've gotten them over the years from construction sites where buildings were being torn done, etc. I'll look at pics and see 3 or 4 that look like mine. Esp. the varigated types. They seem so similiar. Any clues as to differentiate besides posting pics (which I'm still a bit amateur at doing).

Bonnie most of the plants used in commercial landscapes are the more readily available varieties like the undulattas, Francee, Patriot, Minuteman and Gold Standard. The best thing to do really is post pics and the second best would probably to browse the Hosta Library or buy a book on hostas. The HL is a lot cheaper. Beware though as you will end up with a mile-long list of plants you want after browsing the HL. Also there are MANY plants there that are very scarce so take your want list and browse the internet in search of them or have someone look them up in The Hosta Finder for you to see if they are available. Good luck with your plants!

Imagine my surprise to see one of my photos posted on my favorite forum - and no I don't mind. I took the photo - however this is not my Queen of the Seas. It's a friend's plant - great hosta collector in New Hampshire with about 1500 hosta in his collection...

Here's a pic of my QotS taken this spring - toothy edges and deep veins...

Hello Nice shot.. This was taken 6-13-09 Queen of the seas was 3 this year.. It seems very happy in that spot.. Behind it is Chirifu.. The bottom left is Sleeping Beauty to the right is Lakeside Love affair and the lil one peeking up from the bottom is a lil weedling that sprang up the fall of 06..that ive kept. There was alot of discussion on the "serration" on the edge in another forum.. But this is diffently a GARDEN must have. Great color, substance, edge and Fast growing..
