Here is one of my favorites - Grand Slam. It's been a great grower for me and always looks nice.

I love my MMonroe! She adds an element of quiet elegance to my garden, is a good performer, and the slugs don't bother her much. The re curved edges show the white undersides which makes this hosta unique. Her flowers are beautiful, late blooming and are also quite interesting as the scapes are a pale violet. She has terrific staying power in my garden and is among the last to go dormant.

There is much to love about this hosta!

Here she is in flower...she will be 2 yrs. old next year.

I have an impersonator (new this year) as well, 'Candy Dish'. Although pretty also, it doesn't have as many features as MM.

Candy Dish, Smokey and Marilyn Monroe are all siblings. They came from the same set of seeds collected in Japan and sent to Jim Hawes. He grew some and gave some to Alex Summers and Arthur Wrede. These three all have ruffled foliage with white backs and some red in the petioles. All of them are used extensively by hybridizers as they tend to pass on these great traits.
