ammonia question

Though growing season is over here, yesterday I dumped some previously mixed ammonia on some hosta clumps, just to get rid of it. Then I started wondering how long a mix of ammonia and water would remain effective. I had prepared in some time during the summer, but never got to use it. Our summer was such that not even the slugs were active.
So was I wasting my time using it or not? Has anyone noticed that mixed ammonia loses its killing power if not used promptly? Just curious. |
