What yummy colours & textures!! I wish my bushes & perennials weren't past their peak but at least my fothergillas are still to reach their best fall yellow-orange!! (I'm already thinking about how to "spice" up the back yard w/ fairy lights on the statuary--definitely a winter thing to do!

Oh my, oh my, oh my. Absolutely lovely. Your summer pictures were amazing, but I do love the colors of fall and the look of leaves on the ground. Incredible berries-none of mine fruit so heavily.

Beautiful! The pyracantha and the japanese maple really stand out and provide spectacular color!

That was a lovely treat! The Japanese maple is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing more of your beautiful garden. I love the wax begonia late in the season, when the shiny leaves have those rich deep jewel colors.

Gorgeous pics. Thanks for sharing. Our fall color show has been very poor this year due to our early hard freeze.

Hi UK hostaman,

I have a question for you. Is your garden as compact as it looks in your wonderful pictures? Just how wide and long is it? You really have a lot of interesting plants and bushes in a compact space.

Most gardens in the US are larger so we can plant so much more.

Here are pictures from my sister Ritas's and my garden. Enjoy!

RE: some pictures

UK hostaman,

I am retired and I am finding that I really have more than I can care for like I used to! LOL One good thing about most of the hosta beds is that once the plants reach maturity they cover the bare ground and weeds don't come up as readly. I like the close look as long as they don't croud out each other. That might come in a few years. We have only lived at this house 17 years and I don't usually move the larger hosta so some have really spread.

I down loaded more garden pictures after I sent the last post so I'll be sending out more pictures soon.

Connie, Your garden pictures are such a pick-me-up in the week that all the leaves have fallen!

UK, I will post that link for you. It's easy. Open the thread, block and copy the URL, and paste it in the URL box below the message box. Write a label to identify it, in the name of link box. Voila!

Here is a link that might be useful: UK's other picture thread

RE: some pictures

Hi Connie and UK.
I've really enjoyed the pictures. it really gives a lift this time of the year. I'll have to take some pictures next year, and learn how to post them. I realize it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but I'll try. Incidentally, Connie, I'm also in the northwest corner of Illinois, Hanover.

Freeport here!!
Would enjoy seeing your garden sometime. I go to Dubuque frequently during the summer to watch the stockcar races so will have to set up a time with you ford8nn. I'd have to drag my hubby and other family members along. Won't give me much time to talk hostas! BUMMER!!!!!!

Hi Connie

We go thru Freeport on our way to see our kids in Cary, Crystal Lake and Algonquin frequently. Maybe sometime next year we can stop by and see your hosta when things are out once again. I can hardy wait for spring.
