Ken's just plain right. (Now how often do you hear me say that? No quibbling, no little reservations...)

As I walked around the Convention gardens this year, it actually became kind of a joke with my wife to see from how far away I would point out the ERC in the garden.

I hate the name... I love emeralds - my wife has two necklaces with uncut emeralds and they are lovely - and a rough cut emerald can be quite attractive, but its not named Rough Cut Emerald, its named Emerald Ruff Cut. The only definition for ruff is the stiff collar on a dress or the collar of fur or feathers on an animal... so the name is just plain dumb.

but a great hosta - attractive when a little shaver, attractive as a mature clump... great color, great form... should be on any hosta lovers short list...

WOW!! Ken that is just beautiful. Can't wait for the next few seasons to pass... I just got this one as a little "shaver" this year.

The one I got this summer by mail was too little to "shave" at all. I was quite disappointed, but I have great hopes for next year. Your pictures are great, Ken.

This one arrived in a dormant state this Spring, and when it first unfurled, the leaves were just light green. Then it turned into Swan! Even in its young, immature life it gets beautiful coloring and those great ruffles. I agree that this one is a "must have".

OOH, OOH, OOH. If Ken and Idiot love it, how can we not add it to our gardens?! UK-I really like the ruffled or piecrust hosta, too. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention.

Awesome plant, Ken...everything about it...the broad leaves with great coloration, the convexly-cupped leaves which cascade downward, the puckering, and the wonderful tightly-piecrusted edge...everything adds up to a distinct and attractive hosta! Be sure to post pics of it each spring!
