bk, It was registered by Paul Aden as a 'Vicki Aden' x a sibling back in 1980. Thirty years ago it was quite popular according to Zilis. As a juvenile plant the leaves are narrow and quite wavy. I like the two tone effect you get this time of the year. 'Vicki Aden' is a streaked hosta derived from 'Flamboyant' 'Flamboyant' was produced by using x-rays on a gold seedling and when they tried to tissue culture it in the '80s, it wouldn't and they ended up with "Shade Fanfare" ( I'm not this knowledgeable - thank you Mark Zilis and his Hostapedia!)

This is another one that the Commission corrected as being a Florence Shaw plant. It's listed as a seedling of Amy Aden, which is possibly true because Amy Aden was also stolen from Birchwood. BTW, that X-Ray story is a bunch of Hooey. Where did you get your plant? This is not one you see very often these days.

Steve, Picked it up several years ago from a local nursery who is no longer in business. I guess you have to be really careful on tracing genealogies on any plant that has" Aden" associated with it. Thanks for the correction.

I like this plant so much I bought it twice. The first one was lost in a bad winter/spring - too exposed I guess. Below is a picture of the two plants. I like the color in the original (right) one with more sun. The one on the left is a light bluish green but will be moving next year. It is available at Sebright in Oregon.
