Old friends, old friends

Sat on their park bench like bookends.

Pauls Glory and Gold Standard. Among the first hosta I tried back in the mid 90s. Been in this spot ever since.

Back in late May...

July

Late September...What a world, what a world.

...and lastly, last week (more to the left).

OK, I saw there were like 3 posts today and I had to do something...this was all I could muster. Should I have titled this Paul Simon's Glory and Garfunkle Standard?

Just a baby, but a Paul's Glory nonetheless...Sited in about 6 hours direct sunlight; didnt realize what champs they could be in direct sun until I watched the leaves change shape and color rather dramatically

...And my other PG that lives in mostly shade, same age as sunbaby...

Hey tsugajunkie -- that's a pretty spectacular pair of friends, and their japanese maple friend is certainly showing off this week! Isn't living with four seasons an amazing journey?

tj, Thanks for those pictures, I have those plants too. Your PG is spectacular in September. I have this mystery that my 'Paul's Glory's are a lot more yellow, perhaps my 'Paul's Glory's are all GSs, and I need to get the real one.

tsugajunkie, That's a great combination. Even though they are both light in the center and darker on the edge, they are different enough to really show each other off to the best advantage. I wouldn't have thought to put those two together but it really works. Someone should start a thread of favorite combos. Myrle

Great pair of friends and of course my favorite leaf coloration, light middle and green margins. I fell for Gold Standard the minute it arrived, was sure enough of its place to order two at the same time.

Great thread. Timely and informative. Didn't get the reference to Simon and Garfunkel initially. Thank you for associating GS and PG to Old Friends. What a great song, Haven't heard it in a long time. To us children of the 1960's - "How terribly strange to be seventy".

It seems odd that going through gardenweb.com shows blurred pix due to Photobucket but if you go via HOUZZ like HERE the pix show clear.
