My seedlings from last winter are all ready for dormancy. You might be able to get one to last through the next winter but why? You won't gain anything and you might kill it. If you think the seedlings are too small to go into the ground, put them in a unheated garage or porch or a refrigerator and let them go dormant.

and that will give you room to do a new batch ...

if you do not allow such..

they will eventually do it themselves ...

and the only question will be.. how much smaller they will be for it ...

if it happens in mid winter.. how will you get them the cold??? ... you wont be able to just take them outdoors w/o hardening them off to winter ... big PIA imho .... soggy pots.. cold.. cold damp.. rots roots.. etc ....
