The Benedict Medal AOM 2011 - #4 Olive Bailey Langdon

The fourth Award of Merit in 2011 went to Olive Bailey Langdon. As you may know OBL is an improved version of Frances Williams. It does not suffer from the Spring dessication that FW is infamous for and, at least in my garden, it grows better. Here it is as a two year old plant.

OBL yr 2

I think Phil in NC has some great pictures of his OBL. Let's see yours.

My OBL, actually 2 plants, looks great in spring, see the picture on 6-05-2011. But then in summer it will burn severely in 2 hours of midday sun. I noticed that Frances Williams will get no or less spring burns (and will have larger leaves) when planted in shade because it will come out of the ground and unfurl its leaves later in spring when the chance of frost is less.

Paul - I am really enjoying this string of threads although I don't have much to contribute. I was aware of the Benedict medal but hadn't paid much attention. Having planted the HOTY list I'm enjoying the inspiration.
Thanks for doing this.
Jan
