Oh dear--the golds are so tough to id, I think, but I'm game--how about 'Piedmont Gold'?

If that's not right, how about a hint, by way of scape color?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Piedmont Gold? Golden Friendship? Golden Sculpture?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Golden Bouquet????? Golden Friendship????

Yaaa, 'Planthoader'! Glad to see you over here! :o)

Let's see--another guess--a young 'Gold Regal' or 'August Moon'?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

OOOOOOOOOH I like your August Moon guess hey_j

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

I'm voting for Golden Sculpture just because I counted 13 veins.

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

I also think Golden Sculpture.....Or maybe City Lights?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

All good guesses, but nope, not yet. Yeah,I know golds are hard, and that's why I have so few of them,as a lot of them look just like another one! Scape color is the same as the plant. Phil

Okay--guess I mean the bloom/flower color?

'Richland Gold' or maybe a young 'Zounds'?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Richland Gold? Fat Cat?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Like Probably 98% of hostas, the blooms are lavender. I am saving come of it's seeds for planting next year. Still no right answers! Phil

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

King Tut?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Nope! One last clue: It is of Sieboldiana heritage. Phil

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Here are some golds that have sieboldiana in their bloodline: Ahamo Gold, August Moon, Goldbrook Gold, sieboldiana Semper Aurea, St. George's Gold.

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

You probably won't figure it out,but nope, again! Phil

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

'H. I Don't Got a Clue'?
'H. Un-named Seedling'?
'H. Anuther Gold'un'?
'H. Phil's Stumper'?
'H. You Win'?

;o))

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Okay...here are some more longshot guesses: Stardust, White Vision, Sun Glow, Aspen Gold, Golden Prayers, Golden Waffles, Gold Cadet. (Not sure any of these have sieboldiana heritage)

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24 again

Sea White Gold?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24 again and again

Glory? Golden Sunburst? High Noon?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Lol! Janice. Don,you finally hit it! It is Golden Sunburst, the all gold version of Frances Williams. This is not as significant,as the way I got it. It used to be a Frances Williams, but several years ago,it started to turn gold,a little each year, until one year,it just came up all gold, and has stayed that way ever since. I moved it to where it is now,to get it into more sun from deep in the woods. It does sorta get a little burning now,but I think it has overcome that. This year it bloomed and set seed, for the first time. I'm really only guessing that it should be called Golden Sunburst, because that's what everything I've read about it says. Either way, that's what I am calling it. Thanks for looking, everyone! Phil

Oh man--I hovered over that one, at the Library and I even have one myself!
I got mine off ebay about 2 yrs. ago!

I guess I don't get the cigar, this time!!!

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

After a hundred guesses, I finally got it??????????

Hurrah!!!!!

Yours looks beautiful. Do you have any problem with it burning? Here is what Zilis says:

"This is the much maligned gold-leaved sport of 'Fances Williams' with the unfortunate habit of developing heavy amounts of spring desication burn. It has many great qualities (substance, flowers, large size), but it can become so badly burned in spring, that it is not recommended for general garden usage. For a similar appearance, but without the burn, try 'Abiqua Gold Shield', 'City Lights', 'Golden Waffles', 'Piedmont Gold', or 'Zounds'." The Hostapedia, page 365

In any case, thanks for the fun of the guessing game!

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Don,mine gets a slight tinge sometimes, but generally looks good all year. It really doesn't burn as my Frances Williams does on the edges. If you look closely, you can still see a slight dark area,in the middle of some leaves;a remnant of when it was a Frances Williams. Phil

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Thanks, Phil, for posting this one. This guessing game is becoming very educational. Given what don_r tells us, I won't be running out to get Golden Sunburst. If it has the characteristics of Frances Williams, I would want a substitute. I do have Golden Waffles, which I just got this year. Does anyone have experience with it?

 o
RE: Name this hosta #24

Does anybody else grow Something Else? It is the gold sport of Olive Bailey Langdon. I got it hoping it would not have the spring desication issues of FW and GS.
