Ever since it started snowing my husband is standing in front of the window and watching. If the snow gets much worse, I might let him inside the house. Anonymous

Welcome to the 2013 Alphabet. Let the games begin. Remember post often and keep coming back! Something is always new. Paula

I'm very poor at organising my photos but here is Abiqua Moonbeam in July this year.

Abiqua Moonbeam photo AbiquaMoonbeam2_zps30c1bd38.jpg

We got a wonderful surprise yesterday morning when it started to snow at 8.00am.
3 inches of snow in a matter of hours.
The first white Christmas for a long long time here in the UK.

A view from my window out across our garden and beyond. This shot was from a couple of weeks ago when we had a fall that melted the next day. It's doing the same today and will probably all be gone by tonight. Back to the underlying mud left by the wild weather we have been experiencing lately. Another storm forecast for tomorrow with gale force winds again

super ...

first pic.. way up top ... i thought the joke was the mis-spelled tag ...

snow in GB ... the monochromatic vs the color pix is breath taking.. or at least that is my excuse for enjoying a snow pic.. lol ..

jo shows aristocrat.. very devilish to grow .... many failed for many peeps.. of course.. there are those with spectacular plants ...

leafover ... that looks like amended mother earth in a pot ... some dirt with peat .... you can do much better than such ... potting media is the end all and be all of LONG TERM pot success ... your media needs to be porous.. peat adds water holding capacity ... not the same thing ... you need chunks of something in there ... or i am interpreting the pic wrong ....

all and all.. i give you all an A for effort ... lol.. <<=== see what i did there.. lol ... [or would it be an E for effort ... hmmmmm]

RE: Hosta A 2013

Thanks, everyone for sharing. Nice hosta.

I have no sterling photos of A's, as my Ann Kulpa always looks bad. (My best photo of her is moth eaten.) Abiqua Moonbeam is brand new and Aphrodite buds that don't open aren't too impressive.

I would like to see some good Aphrodite photos, if anyone has any to share. Not that I want to try again on that one, but still think it's a pretty plant.

Don- what happened to your August Moon that it ended up in the trash? The only thing I can think of is a virus. ABG has been sitting in that spot for at least 10 years. I guess it's just happy there.

There are many great examples of this hosta here. The flower bud it produces can be large and lovely too.

 o
RE: Hosta A 2013

Lots of great pictures here. All the ones of Atlantis are impressive. It's been the most difficult of the Sun Power sports for me to get going. I know for sure I'm going to have to move American Icon. My 4 or 5 year old plant is nothing like Bernard's.

Here are a few more A's of mine that have not been shown except the Allan P McConnell. MadPlanter mine looks very different than yours. Are you sure you plant isn't Golden Tiara?

RE: Hosta A 2013

MadPlanter, your Aphrodite picture is the prettiest and strongest specimen of that hosta I ever saw. Hope you don't mind I copied it for my computer? It seems I must have seen it before, and this makes twice I've voted it as beautiful!

I think for the rest of the alphabet I will upload my pics straight from the computer using the GWeb uploader. That way, if I should change from Flickr at anytime in the future, GWeb will be able to keep the pictures instead of losing them.

If anyone wonders how to keep the pictures for a long time on the forum, use the GWEB UPLOADER. Only one picture at a time, but they will remain available as long as GWeb keeps the post.

Ludi, you grow the white centered/margined to perfection. I look at yours and say AARRGGHH!! to my rag tag bunch.

Whatever you're doing, it must be right. All I'll try to do is admire from a distance, and feel fortunate if one or two pass muster at my house.

ZCathy, your picture turned out right side up this time, you don't need to apologize, don't get gun shy on us here.......if it needs straightening, somebody will do it, we know what you're dealing with....hehehehe

And Phil, we are familiar with a lot of your hosta, like they were old friends and members of the family. (Especially your Sagae).....so don't you be saying not gonna post em....Your garden has some nicely grown hosta, friend! So put em up! :)

McTavish- Ouch- you're right. Looks like my Allen P. McConnell just joined the list of mismarked NOIDs. There were several just like it; the whole batch must have been shipped with the wrong tag.

Thanks to all who admired Aphrodite. That was last year's photo. I cut a chunk off for a friend this spring, and she did not like being divided one bit, was a much smaller plant in 2013.
