Hosta A 2014

This year the Alphabet is dedicated to Phil. It was his story and he was sticking to it.

Let the Games begin.

1. How many hostas did Mocc buy this year?

2. Johnny s mother had three children. The first child was named April The second child was named May. What was the third child s name?

3. A garden question: How much dirt is there in a hole that measures two feet by three feet by four feet?

Amaze us with your As!

Thanks Kathy, I didn't have an elevated spot to plant Arc de Triomphe. The GW poster, who sold me on his, had his A d T in an elevated rock outcropping. I tried to google his post to give him credit but came up empty-handed...so, think its NB to mention the hosta name in the text of our posts, as Paula requested and as McTavish reminded.

I like the wavy silver/blues, and I've been looking at Arctic Blast and Astral Bliss for a while. Nice to see some here.

American Sweetheart keeps its leaves more upright than most hostas

Atlantis, so far is holding its own with two giants behind it. (Komodo Dragon, Empress Wu)

Technically this should be under F for Fortunei Albopicta.
Are we being strict? This is an oldie and we should not forget our old friends.
    Thanks Jo!

Hey, Jerry! Where are you hiding ð³ that Ann Kulpa.

Perenal, i am saving mine for F too.

Josephine, funny about the Ann Kulpa, the first year it was real ratty and I thought it would end up "out back". It is in a terracotta pot with just garden soil and compost (no fancy medium). It has total shade most of the day and direct sun the last two hours. Definitely less than ideal conditions. Sometimes things work out, in spite of myself.

This is my first ever participation in the alphabet!
I have two "A" - an Abiqua Drinking Gourd that is so tiny I am embarrassed to share its photo, and this young Abiqua Moonbeam that I hope will grow up to be as beautiful as the one Evermore shows above.

Prairie Love, glad you've joined in. This is my first time participating, too, and unfortunately I didn't know about this game until last fall so I won't have very many to share this year (but boy, will I be ready next).

However, thanks to your photo I now realize what that mystery Hosta is that I received instead of Yellow River last year from a breeder ~ it's Abiqua Moonbeam! So, thank you! :)

It is my first alphabet too--- prairie_love and HostaTakeover.
LOL! I did not join until this fall. I got a new computer in early Sept. and never thought to upload the pics on my camera prior to hooking up the new computer.
Apparently my camera was too old to be compatible.
Our daughter got me a new camera so I will take lots of new pics next year. Yeah!!!

I figured out where to site the Arc de Triomphe as I dozed off on the airplane flying home from the in-law visit. Isn't the subconscious wonderful? I'll show you next year.

Here's Alligator Alley. (Might be upside down, I'm working on that.)

zKathy, your Alligator Alley is beautiful. I got one this past year, too, but never took a photo of it.
