Hosta B 2012

My green thumb came only as a result of the mistakes I made while learning to see things from the plant's point of view. ~H. Fred Dale

Beautiful Hostas, you guys! My "B" hostas are much smaller than yours, so here's a 2-for-1...

I have more B's than anything else. Most of my photos were taken early May while still growing since we hit the heat wave then and figured I should get photos before they looked ragged.

"B" seems to be a very popular letter for hosta namers! Here are a couple that haven't yet been posted.

Brim Cup is growing very slowly in a pot. Bought in in 2010 not knowing its reputation. Now I consider it a challenge.

Very nice pictures. I will certainly not add my Blue Angel. It still hates me.

Love the flower on Beet Salad. It's quite dynamic.

Paul, that Blueberry Muffin is amazing and only the second year. I got one this year and even though it was small I used it to replace Carolina Blue in my 'feature' area by the front walkway. There is a picture below. I was debating about this plant for a long time and I am so glad I finally got it. The color is amazing.

Jan, I'm fairly sure your Blue Boy is not Blue Boy. It's so blue and not the right shape. Have a look at Blue Boy in the first picture below. It looks like it could be Winfield Blue which is a beautiful plant.

I seem to have a lot of 'b's' too. Here are some of them.

I got some great new Blues this year.

mctavish - my Blue Boy (?) certainly looks different than yours - its just a baby, and growing in total shade, so I'll see what next year brings. It certainly is very blue.
I really like your 'Blue Sliver'

    Black Hills.

I just bought mine in the past fall sale but Myrle had pictures to show how it should look. So handy having a friend that has them all!

Happy New Year everyone. Enjoying everyone's pics. My B is Blue Jay in front of Dream Queen. To the right of Dream Queen is Aristocrat. Also in this bed are: Fantasy Island (foreground right), High Society (behind FI), and Winsome. All these hostas except Fantasy Island were planted in 2007. Growth has been slow but steady because of tree roots. As you can see I love the blues.

Blue Ivory has been a slow grower, having been bought in 2009. I took the picture on June 9.

Brother Stefan on August 3. I culled about 7 green leaves from BS in June. The first year since 2007 that it's done that. Would the green leaves be a sport or a reversion?

A few more that no one has added yet-

Blue Arrow - One of my favorites, holds color for me

Blue Flame - 2nd year, a Fragrant Blue Sport

Blue Wedgwood - Hope to get this moved in spring, looks good until Guacamole and Spilt Milk spread out.

    Brave Attempt - 1st year

Bridegroom - split this piece off last summer and moved to a brighter more noticable spot

Bright Lights - 2nd year, original pot was very root bound, it's starting to stretch out, got some early burn from the odd spring temps last year - a Tokudama Aureonebulosa Sport

Bulletproof - DW won this last year, nice blue
