Wow, that's huge. What was the approximate width of the plant? I don't believe that my young Sagae will ever look like that!

It is about 3 ft. wide and about 24 inches tall, but it's still a young one. it just seems to like where it was planted. phil

"but it's still a young one." Wow. Beautiful.

That leaf size is beautiful, but also scary when some hostas got planted too close to each other. Many of my hostas will leap this year, I hope the best.

IMHO, the Sagae is the most masculine hosta of all. It just looks tough, and so very sophisticated at the same time.

If I were to choose a hosta to be Sagae's feminine equivalent, what.......

Have I been introduced to her yet?
Hmmmmmm

How about....
Orange Marmalade
Smooth Sailing
Essence of Summer
Midnight At The Oasis

Elegans is wonderful, but matronly
Krossa Regal is aristocratic, but....ambivalent

aha....fragrant is where it is
Miss Saigon.....mature and mysterious
Emily Dickinson...youthful and virginal
So Sweet....maybe
Stained Glass....promise of greatness...yes

Gesila, about 5 years old,but hostas in my garden tend to get really big leaves, because of the shady area. This one is under Dogwood trees and some sunshine at times in the day. Thanks for lookin'! Phil

RE: Sagae and my hand....

Here is my new Sagae in September. Three eyes put into the pot separately, just in case I need to split the bunch later.

Have to say, this is one of my favs.

I went back and looked at my records, and I got that Sagae as a very small one-eyed plant back in October of 2006,so it's 6 years in the ground, but you would never know it had been so small. phil
