Growing Hostas in Zone 10

Was reading the Feb. issue of Fine Gardening and ran across an article about a grower that is introducing a hosta that doesn't need a winter dormancy period and will also take the kind of full sun found in very warm zones.

The pic of the hosta looks a lot like others we've seen, green with a white edge but for those in warmer zones who've been longing to grow hosta this might be an option. Curiously the hosta doesn't seem to have any name, looks like they're just calling it SunHosta. I'm going to reserve judgement on this one.

feb of what year ???? ... lol.. a little behind or way ahead ...

any chance you can find a link..

most perennials can be grown as annuals outside their native ranges ....

February issue of 2010.
They are claiming this hosta is perennial in zone 10, not annual and will not go dormant.
I don't know how to post a link Ken, maybe someone can help me out but try googling grolink sunhosta.

SunHosta...sounds like a marketing scheme. All hostas need a dormancy period. It's reported to be introduced by Bernard Chodyla of the Belgium company GroLink. He originally was from Poland and was hired by GroLink about 2 years ago, where he came up with the Sunhosta. Probably just an albomarginata.

I agree, I'm skeptical about this. It wouldn't be the first time an old hosta was renamed in a marketing scheme.
