Buried hostas

We have buried electrical service throughout our neighborhood. They are upgrading or replacing much of the underground wiring and the utility boxes. The utility folks dug several deep holes in my garden (about five feet deep). I don't think they actually dug up any hostas although they were quite close to several. My concern is that they buried several hostas under at least 3-4 feet of dirt. This was about three weeks ago and I have no idea when they will finish and refill the holes with the dirt sitting on the hostas. Is this going to kill my hosta? The hostas are dormant so I am hoping they will be okay, as long as they are unburied before spring, but thought maybe someone may have had some experience with this. Thanks.
