A stooge will play a stooge

Sean Penn will finally be playing himself.

MGM and the Farrelly brothers are closing in on their cast for "The Three Stooges."

Studio has set Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard.

The studio is zeroing in on Benicio Del Toro to play Moe.

The film is not a biopic, but rather a comedy built around the antics of the three characters that Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Howard played in the Columbia Pictures shorts.

sorry, here's the link.

Here is a link that might be useful: variety

RE: A stooge will play a stooge

What makes you think Sean Penn is a stooge sranz? Not the fact that he played, as in acted, a gay man in a recent movie surely. The name 'stooge' is often given to the straight man in a comedy duo, queer isn't it the way words are?

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Swanz has an interesting interest in gay men and gay topics.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Um? Who's talking about gays here? You folks sure obsessed wit that stuff. I've criticized him long before he played the gay city clerk.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

OK. Then with good looking straight men.

Whatever.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Yeah man.......like,whatever.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

What is your criticism of Sean Penn, the man, then swank? Don't forget to tell us how you know this. I think he is a brilliant actor but I know nothing about his personal life so I can't comment on that. He is a stooge you say.

 o
RE: swanz will play a stooge

I know you find this exhausting swanz but you often/usually start something but rarely finish it and I find this tiring because I start by thinking you have something of value to contribute but then you prove that you don't.

Why do you think Sean Penn is a stooge, that's all. You made this claim up front so what makes him a stooge?

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

His constant political ranting and whining. He's a stooge of the ultra-lib Hollywood establishment.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Everywhere else I read Sean Penn is called ANTI establishment, he certainly takes on roles that a lot of actors would steer clear of because of their controversial politics, Harvey Milk being one. I understand that he is not one of the 'in crowd' so it seems to me that he is not part of the Hollywood establishment that is the opposite to liberal anyway, hence his reputation for speaking against it.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Of course he's in the inn crowd in Hollywood..That's why he got an oscar even when there were much greater performances.

So Swanz, what did you think of Milk other than Penn's performance?

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

The movie was exploitative and agenda driven. Very lousy film.

What made you go see a film that you had obviously made your mind up about prior to viewing? Wander into the wrong theater?

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

You think I'd spend 8 bucks and 2 hours of my valuable time watching that tripe. I saw the commercials, there was enough there by which to judge the movie. If a movie came out glorifying Rush Limbaugh I'm sure the commercial would be enough for you to.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

And there you have it, movie criticism from the shallow end.

"You think I'd spend 8 bucks and 2 hours"

No. I just thought it was interesting that you would misrepresent yourself by unjustly panning a film I was sure you hadn't seen. It was a great film.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

When the commercial came out on TV I said to my wife, " I bet ya he's gonna win best actor because of the subject matter." It didn't take a prophet to see that coming. That's Hollywood for ya.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

What would you say the subject matter of the commercial was then swank?

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Sorry, I don't respond to such twisted versions of my name. I find it insulting and very hurtful.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Then I guess there is a lesson to be learned swanz, deliberately misspelling someones name is insulting and hurtful, so stop doing it. Also of course you have side stepped the opportunity of defending the indefensible, that is: negatively critiquing an actor or a movie (or anything else) without anything more than a superficial glance at it.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

I accept your apology.

"you have side stepped the opportunity of defending the indefensible, that is: negatively critiquing an actor or a movie (or anything else) without anything more than a superficial glance at it."

This is how posters lose credibility.... if they have any.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

I'll give a more in debt review when it comes on T.V.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

"I'll give a more in debt review"

#1 It is called depth.

#2 I love how you can say someone does not deserve an award when you have not seen the film. That is pathetic. (homophobic much)

#3 It does not make you gay watching great movies. That is why Philadelphia is one of my top five all-time.

I thought Harvey Milk was a great film! I watched the WHOLE thing, not just the trailer! Penn did a fabulous job in his role, and if he wins an award for it, it will be well deserved.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Jodi, he won an Academy Award for that role.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

frank: he won the Oscar for his role in the film. We are however, talking about the commercial for the film here in this lack of debt review, apparently he was a stooge in that.

I don't keep track of who won awards, and don't watch the award shows... I just liked the film. I'm glad he won, then. :-)

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Isn't an Oscar the same as an Academy Award? Methinks it is.

It was a great movie and Sean Penn is an underrated actor. He wasn't my first pic for the award, but he was certainly worthy of a nomination.

Swanz have you seen the cover of a book called "Out of Captivity" and if so, can you tell me how the book is?

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Excellent book, I highly recommend it.

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

LOL, I knew you would know!

 o
RE: A stooge will play a stooge

Thank you Mamarazzi.
