Global Warming 'Countdown' explanation

Ok, for you newtimers :

Back in 2007 it was reported that the artic icecap would be gone by the summer of 2040 or so. I estimated that it would take about 300 GWarming related threads (10 per year) to reach 2040 at the average rate we were posting them at that time. So I started a countdown starting at #300 to reach 0 by 2040 (roughly).

But since then both the meltdown timing and number of GW posts have accelerated. Some predict the icecap will be gone by the summer of 2013, so as of today the countdown is at #135 which means that there have been about 165 GWarming posts since 2007.

Maybe we will reach #0 by 2013 at the going rate...

Confused enough? :)
