Great day for catching yet another Fraud like this!
Homeless recruited from shelters by greedy doc who may now spend the rest of his life in jail!
NEXT!

Dr. Jacques Roy, 54, and others they allege had conspired to defraud Medicare and Medicaid through a network of home-health companies. The others arrested are Cynthia Stiger, Wilbert James Veasey Jr., Cyprian Akamnonu, Patricia Akamnonu, Teri Sivils and Charity Eleda, all of Texas. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which administers those programs, has also suspended federal payments to78 home-health care companies affiliated with Roy.

Patricia Akamnonu is president of a home health care agency I find Cyprian listed as a real Estate agent!

Just the tip of the Medicare fraud iceberg...

Yes, and it isn't the little guy defrauding public programs, as the opposition has literally been led to think.

In 2010 it was Russian immigrants being told to be quiet.

Thant was another 80 Million with an old Soviet style poster!

It's both, the little guy plays a role, but the sophisticated medical field is where the fraud is enormous because it's "easy" to do.

Collaboration, followed by cooperation on the inside is an easy pathway to fraud.

We received a bill that Medicare declined to pay last time EDD got out of the hospital for $15,000 for an infused treatment.
We got upset till we realized the date of the procedure was a time EDD was not using this treatment. The Company said oh pshaw our mistake. We continually asked them to stop sending so many extra extension tubes for a pump he was on, we were up to our ears in them but each time they sent an additional 7 extra extensions who knows what each one cost. (Every 3rd one leaked where it screwed in) Made in China

I learned long ago, as a practicing attorney, to not do business with any company located in Florida or Texas (a Republican friend asked me, in jest, if I had something against the Bush family). So, before even reading this, I surmised it happened in FL or TX. Florida is where Gov. Rick Scott's company paid huge fines for Medicare fraud (but, unfortunately, Scott wasn't charged, even tho' he was CEO). I think it might be because the consumer protection agencies in those states are very weak, or non-existent. And, apparently, the populace doesn't much care whether there is ongoing fraud in their state - why else would Scott have been elected governor?

Labrea, that reminds me of the workmen's comp case when my husband was injured at work years ago... while the case was ongoing, they were sending him Tens Unit supplies... we got dozens more packages of the pieces we DIDN'T need, and not enough of the pieces we DID need! Communicating with them did no good, whatsoever.

There are gaps and waste everywhere... in communication, paperwork... and fraud everywhere...

But when you do the actual math, it is only a stereotype that the average citizen is getting away with all this fraud... the real fraud, the real money, is huge... and it's corporate in nature.
