| I found the Washington Post's story on Bob Green's death mnnnn odd!
Bob Green, a onetime radio DJ who married pop singer and Miss Oklahoma Anita Bryant, was found dead Jan. 26 at his home in Miami Beach. He was 80. Mr. Green managed his wife's rise to stardom as an entertainer and Florida citrus spokeswoman, then followed her into anti-gay activism, which ultimately destroyed their careers and marriage in 1980. For more than 30 years, Mr. Green lived quietly, alone and resentful.
“Bob internalized a lot of his own anger and frustration and disappointments,” said Bryant, 71, on Wednesday from her home in Oklahoma City. That’s what happens “if you don’t let your faith rise up and you give into all those anxieties." I remember celebrating their divorce at a big gala party at Bonds Casino in Times Square that was some party. |

| iirc Anita Byrant made an announcement that she was devastated by her husband's infidelities. Is this the one? |

| ...then followed her into anti-gay activism... Actually her lead her into anti-gay activism. I saw them being interviewed on a talk show once. He was by far the more aggressive anti-gay of the two. He felt gay teachers should be barred from teaching because of their sexual predilection for children. Very very sick man. -Ron- |

| I remember that Anita Bryant was one of those women who were part of a group that hailed a book stressing how women should be good wives by, among other things, dressing up (naked) in saran wrap and a bow to greet her husband on his return home from work. That was the only thing I remember from the book - not its title nor its author. In the 80's after her divorce, she mellowed quite a bit and I remember her saying, "Live and let live" regarding homosexuals. That's the last I remember of her. Don't know a thing about her ex. But, hate can leave one living a very lonely life as it is a poison that can hurt you more than the object of your hate, IMO. |

| I kind of lost track of Bryant and her cheery invitation to "come to the Florida sunshine tree." Never knew a thing about her husband or husbands. I do remember though, way way back Bryant being one of the first persons to be hit in the face with a pie as a political act. Bryant quipped "At least it's a fruit pie" in an attempt to make a pun on the derogatory term.
