| that? The manager of baseball's Florida Marlin team has beens suspended and has apologized for saying he loves and respects old Fidel. Methinks he can have an opinion on foreign leaders just like you and I can... |

| Apparently not in rabidly anti-Castro S. Florida. Our Cuba policy has been idiotic since the 1960s. It serves no real purpose for them or for us. Normalizing relations decades ago in the same manner Nixon did with China would have been better for both. |

| I was listening to the uproar on every station yesterday, and likewise, could't figure it out - seemed to be more about the folks being interviewed one-upping each other on their level of outrage. |

"Apparently not in rabidly anti-Castro S. Florida." "But what is wrong with loving and respecting Castro?" If you visit "Little Havana" and ask or if you ask any of the many Cuban Americans who live in South Florida you might understand why there is such a "rabidly anti-Castro" sentiment. There is a legitimate reason for it. The man has every right to voice his opinion but he should have been aware of and willing to accept the repercussions, especially in his position. Making that statement in South Florida is comparable to a well known pastor publicly stating in Key West that homosexuality is a sin. Everyone has a right to their opinions and beliefs but sometimes the consequences of stating it in a public realm aren't comfortable. If you aren't willing to deal with the backlash, I guess you should choose your battle grounds a little better. Remember the Dixie Chicks. |
