Pelosi, Hoyer rebuke Boehner for defending DOMA in veteran case

Lets see who will tell us how much they hate Pelosi & let it be about that who will follow the point of the topic.

In a letter dated March 30, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) write to the speaker to express concern about Boehner intervening on behalf of DOMA in the case of Cooper-Harris v. United States.
I did write recently that the members of The Log Cabin Republicans (red pansies) held a fund raiser for Tine Tears John Boehner. It was the Log Cabin republicans who filled a lawsuit for the repeal of DADT it's so confusing on 1 hand the organization fights for it's rights & then goes & fills the trough for the Speaker of the House. SUS genes!

Cooper-Harris v. United States is a Veteran case again an equality case an equal protection on the law case.

Tracey Cooper-Harris served her country for 12 years in the U.S. Army. She received more than two dozen medals and commendations. She was honorably discharged in 2003.

In 2010, Cooper-Harris was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a disabling disease that attacks the brain and central nervous system. The Department of Veterans Affairs denied Cooper-Harris request for benefits for her partner, even though their same-sex marriage was recognized by California.

The Southern Poverty Law Center filed a lawsuit on behalf of Cooper-Harris and her partner, charging that the Department of Veterans Affairs discriminated against them by denying these benefits but granting them to spouses in heterosexual marriages. It also charges the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional because it bans federal agencies from recognizing such same-sex marriages, denying these couples benefits available to couples in heterosexual marriages.
The President will not defend DOMA (the original authors of Doma have apologized for its egregious divisiveness) the defense of DOMA fall to the Speaker of the House?
He raised money to defend it oh yes he did, a number of courts in the US have found DOMA deficient the Supreme court has not yet but will address it.

Boehner so far has collected $742,000 to defend DOMA, and that money was skimmed from funds that would normally go toward House officer and employee salaries, Chief Administrative Officer Dan Strodel told members of a House Appropriations subcommittee. Strodel said none of that money came out of the budget of the Justice Department, which dropped its defense of DOMA in February 2011 after Attorney General Eric Holder determined it to be unconstitutional. Boehner, in his authority as speaker, has been defending the law on behalf of the federal government ever since.

My gay breathren raise fund for this man to fight a veterans case. NAHHHH stinks to high heavens.

The Head of The Log Cabin Republican claims that the Speaker
knows that this is already a dead that would make this an expensive piece of political theater.

"A federal judge in Massachusetts declared a key section of the law unconstitutional in 2010 after Attorney General Martha Coakley and the legal group Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders sued. Judge Joseph Tauro found that the law is unconstitutional because it interferes with the right of a state to define marriage and denies married gay couples an array of federal benefits given to heterosexual married couples, including the ability to file joint tax returns."

This is erosion working towards a future political clash along party lines.

Should the legally married spouse of a veteran be presented with the flag at that veterans funeral, should that spouse receive the same benefits as any other if they are married according to the laws of say Massachusetts or NY.

hose are the question not do you like Nancy Pelosi or not. Go there and you indicate what kind of wad you are as a poster on this forum.

Slow and steady as she goes will eventually get this aspect of civil rights to the dock safely...

Of course inch by inch as state by state enacts their gambits knowing full well Doma will fall. John Boehner plays to the pit and acts the hero to a crew her truly doesn't support.
Now Romney for all his feared liberalism does support that crew he made a $10,000 donation to NOM but of course only through his PAC.
Does a legally married Veterans Family Deserve Veterans Rights & Benefits.
Currently the State sets the rights & regulations the requirements for marriage so the legality of the marriage would be defind by state.

21st century and we're still fighting to gain equal human rights. It's not like this is a new argument/prejudice.

This should be a Federally recognized, across the board law that all marriages are legally recognized and given same benefits.

What the hell is the problem, and what the hell is the holdup?
