The Daily Misunderstanding

Can't wait for tomorrow will it be Mitt or Barry!

"Mitt Romney's campaign has been forced to deny that it believes the Republican challenger would be better placed than Barack Obama to handle the relationship between the US and the UK because of his "Anglo-Saxon heritage".

As Romney began an international trip with a visit to London, an unnamed campaign advisor was quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying he "part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage", adding that "the White House didn't fully appreciate the shared history we have".
Or there's this!
Mitt Romney is deeply confused about gun laws. In an interview set to air later tonight on NBC, the GOP presidential candidate says that alleged Aurora, Colo., shooter James Holmes “shouldn’t have had any kind of weapons and bombs and other devices” that he did. Romney says this justifies current gun laws as strong enough: “It was illegal for him to have many of those things already, but he had them. So we can sometimes hope that just changing the law will make all bad things go away. It won’t.” Instead, Romney says “changing the hearts of the American people” is a better policy.
(oh Yeah that might work )

This is simply not true. As Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates explained: “All the weapons that he possessed, he possessed legally. And all the clips that he possessed, he possessed legally. And all the ammunition that he possessed, he possessed legally.”

Holmes used a handgun, a shotgun and an AR-15 assault rifle in his massacre " all legal, thanks to the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban in 2004, which had previously prohibited some versions of the AR-15. Holmes also had body armor, tear gas grenades, a gas mask and tactical gear. All are legal and widely available online at minimal cost (one website sells tear gas grenades for just $16 a pop).

The only way it would have been illegal for Holmes to have his guns would be if he had been diagnosed as mentally ill or was a convicted felon, but neither was the case. His only record was a speeding ticket. “Background checks, as required by federal law, were properly conducted, and [Holmes] was approved,” said a spokesman for Bass Pro Shops, where he bought one of his guns. Holmes had also booby-trapped his apartment with homemade explosives, but there’s no evidence yet that any of these devices were illegal either, as he made them himself with common materials like gasoline.

It was later explained that Romney meant the bombs he made in his home!

“The governor was "clearly" referring to the homemade bombs in the apartment,” the aide told TPM. Those bombs" which did not kill anyone and were disabled by law enforcement " would be illegal under a Colorado law that bans “incendiary devices,” though reports indicate those devices were constructed from items weren’t aren’t illegal to obtain, like gasoline.

OK here comes the picture of Obama bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia.

Seriously folks does Romney's whiter tham white noise play better than socialistical anti colonial President?

Just another example of how Romney answers unscripted questions and surrounds himself with advisors and spokespeople that can't handle the media.

Been going on for years and years and years. Just another day with "the Mitt".

Those of us in MA are all to familiar with this stuff that comes our of the mouth of Romney and his "sidekicks".

I cannot wait for the debates. It is going to be interesting.

RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

Always having to "walk it back." As this rapidly becoming trite phrase puts it...

 o
RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

Walking back does not do much to negate the original statements because the criticisms come from "librul" media and politicians. Mitt's not as dumb as you all seem to think.

RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

Well it seems Romney has really ticked off Cameron and he just got there!

Romney told the news media that he had real concerns about security at the Olympics, that it was "disconcerting" . Then went on to say there seem to have been real problems with some of the organizational elements.

Evidently PM Cameron took great exception to Romney's statements and publicly countered Romeny's statements and basically said the remarks were unwarranted.

Bet their meeting this AM was "icy".

"Evidently PM Cameron took great exception to Romney's statements and publicly countered Romeny's statements and basically said the remarks were unwarranted."

Given Romney's considerable experience with the Olympics in the USA, I would not dismiss his assessment. I'm guessing some pretty troubling issues must stand out for him to comment. He has probably forgotten more about organizing such a massive event than most of us will ever know.

RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

Unfortunately, he has forgotten everything he ever knew about international diplomacy, which was zero to begin with. He would have done better to forget the "troubling issues" and focused on the positive to his hosts. Common courtesy, if nothing else.

"Mitt's not as dumb as you all seem to think".

True, since he's actually less intelligent than I would have ever thought possible of a public figure. He has surpassed all my expectations in that respect. Every day brings a new and yet more embarrassing "reveal" of this lack of knowledge of nearly everything to do with politics, and I surmise of many other things as well.

RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

To his credit, Governor Romney has been very good at making a lot of money for himself and those who invested in his company.

Now how that translates into governing a country is open to question.

RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

We'll never really know about Romney's complete story in the Olympics as most of the documents were shredded.

 o
RE: The Daily Misunderstanding

The issue is that it was totally inappropriate for him to voice his opinions publicly. Maybe he should concentrate on a career running Olympics because he has demonstrated not only a lack of manners but also total lack of foreign diplomacy.

He is there as a candidate for the office of President of the US and a major ally of GB, not an expert on organizing Olympics...... not a class act at all!

"We'll never really know about Romney's complete story in the Olympics as most of the documents were shredded."

And we won't have the 'inside story' on his tenure as MA Governor, because ....

begin quote: "Mitt Romney spent nearly $100,000 in state funds to replace computers in his office at the end of his term as governor of Massachusetts in 2007 as part of an unprecedented effort to keep his records secret, Reuters has learned.

The move during the final weeks of Romney's administration was legal but unusual for a departing governor, Massachusetts officials say.

The effort to purge the records was made a few months before Romney launched an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. / snip

/I know, I know whada bout Obama's kindergarten records?!?!?
