Romney Just Lost the Election!!

He just made the biggest flip flop ever. He told CBS that his remarks re the 47% were "completely wrong". Bascially, saying now, after standing by them just two weeks ago when they were made public, that he really didn't mean what he said. It was in the heat of the campaign, etc. Even though he was speaking to his peers and not realizing that his words were being recorded. Yeah, right.

And he actually expects people who were offended by these remarks to believe him now? It drives home the fact that he will say anything, anything whatsoever, to win this election. If anyone believes that he really means that he really didn't mean what he said in May, I've got some great, undeveloped land in Florida you can buy for a song.

Give me a break.

Here is a link that might be useful: He's completely wrong

Not CBS - Sean Hannity

Sorry, CBS reported on this but it was on Sean Hannity's program on Thursday that he said this. One of Obama's campaign aides said Obama purposely didn't bring it up in the debate so Mitt couldn't give a new spin. So, I guess he had to get Sean to interview him so that he could get it out.

What a douche bag..

35,000 showed up in Madison to see Obama today.

 o
RE: Romney - From Flipper to LIAR

I love the way those who so desperately want to see this guy defeat Obama never questioned anything he said. Nope, they just sucked it up - every flip-flop, every half-truth, every lie. Anything to try to beat Obama.

Romney has a healthcare plan that covers pre-existing conditions?
No he doesn't.
He has NO healthcare plan at all, NONE.
He wants to allow States to decide including all of the States that are currently under water.
And he accused Obama for trying to destroy medicare? LOL!
While Romney's advisers asked him to not make a huge game changing error and let Romney do all the talking, Romney's handlers told him to just lie his ass off and that is precisely what he did.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

The man is a sleaze... I wouldn't let him sell me a used car, let alone consider him a legitimate Presidential candidate. He doesn't have the integrity to sell a used car!

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

hmmm sleaze, douche bag, stinking liar. Are you guys so sure you have already lost this election?

Here we have two men, both Harvard graduates, both seemingly fine fathers and husbands. Both applying for the same job. Both with different visions on how to bring America back. Certainly we disagree on what policies put forth by each of them will accomplish that. Does the name calling further the agenda of either one of them? Or does it diminish those doing the name calling?

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Actually I heard the same comment as to why the President did not bring up the 47% fiasco. It was a deliberate plan on his part because he knew Romney would be ready with a response and he didn't want to give him an opportunity to spin it his way.

That must have really annoyed Romney so he had to go running to his pals to get the lie out there.

If this doesn't wake up some Romney supporters to his total lack of character nothing will. I wish just one conservative would say they can't stand him but they are voting for him anyway because I believe in large part that's the truth.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Here is an article from CNN.

I still cannot get over the fact he said this! no matter which why you cut it he lied. Either he lied to his rich sponsors at the fundraiser or he is lying now?

What is really wild is that SO MANY of his base liked what he said...what are they to think now? This has got be a Flip that will Flop.

WHICH "vision" is Romney's by election day???

Seriously, by back peddling about the 47%, NOW he's pi$$ed off the Boca Raton elite, who donated their money to his campaign (because they are of the "like" mind) and most of his party constituents.

Mr. Romney, the Chameleon, needs to get a grip and "pick a lane " if he wants to travel as a prez.

You know what, I think his constituents and others are so confused by his many faces, and I'm sure there are more to come. HE MAKES SYBIL, who was the poster child for multiple personalities seem sane.

Well, that one is easy, mrskjun.

There are those that are diminished each time they post because they seem to be unable to articulate a thought without insulting other posters or Mitt Romney.

I attribute it to the Lazy Liberal's Limited Lexicon.

That lower class trash talk is one more reason to continue to read this forum less and less.

I must confess, I don't get it--four years of The Savior, four years of Obama's Magic, months and months of taunting about how Mitt Romney has NO CHANCE of winning and how Barack Obama's reelection is a shoe-in, and still...hateful name calling, insults, taunting---I would hate to see how some of you acted if this behavior was all just false bravado--oh, wait.

 o

 o

Which one? If you are going to tell me with a straight face that you haven't made derogatory and insulting remarks about the President then I am going to have to add another accusation.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

You are actually going to make the claim that I've ever called the president of the United States a sleaze, a douche bag, or any other insulting name like that? Then lady you better divvy up or start apologizing, because now you are directing personal insults to me!!

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

He says he has spent his whole life helping 100%. Puhleeeeeeze.........

Romney has spent his whole life in pursuit of amassing great personal wealth. And hoarding that wealth in oversea stashes.

He is a corporate raider. He sees the world and people in terms of what his personal return on investment will be. And I think that is the way he views the presidency. His tax proposals will help him protect and pass on his great wealth, and his fees for speeches will increase even more.

What Mitt Romney cares about is his personal fortune.

Revisit the etch-a-scetch guy's comments. He seems to have been the only guy willing to tell the truth... that's why he got fired.

He said something like once the primaries are over you can start from nothing, no position before the nomination matters once you are in the general election. This seems to be playing out right now and it's pissing off anyone paying attention... pproblem is there aren't enough of them to matter.

Bigger picture it illustrates that Romney really doesn't have any core beliefs. If elected he will do the bidding of the cabal that surrounds and isolates him... much as Reagan and Bush II did. He is a simple tool, the same tool.

If you're talking about Romney and his love of his money, then yes, you are correct.

For someone that likes to preach about class and principles, why is it that you don't mind be lied to by your choice for President? I just cannot understand that.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

"hmmm sleaze, douche bag, stinking liar."

Don't forget "Sybil" and multiple personality disorder, Mrsk!

I'm putting on the popcorn. The Americans Mitt Romney impressed don't look to community organizers for answers.

Do you think the new "liar liar pants on fire" strategy insults the intelligence of middle America? I do. They already saw what happened with their own eyes: Our wimpy president remained tongue-tied, downcast, and lost throughout a debate for which he was hopelessly unprepared.

Yep. Even after FOUR YEARS of on the job training, this supposedly "brilliant orator" could not even discuss his own policies with Mitt Romney. The spin now is that Romney "got away with lying." Except, if that's true, the guy who let him do it was Barack Obama.

Democrats tried blaming Obama's awful performance on everything from the elderly moderator to "the altitude" and "the flu" to claiming Obama flopped because he "didn't want to be too hard on a "lesser" person!" WOW! If there isn't already a list of these laughable excuses, there should be.

Got my popcorn ready. Democrats are about to light the fuse on their biggest exploding cigar yet.

The same administration we couldn't trust to tell the truth about videos and "spontaneous" rampages and the murders of the American citizens it failed to protect in Benghazi, actually think bringing up "lying" will be a winning campaign issue for them!

I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

All a distraction for the original liar! Back in April (can you guys go that far)
"It started around February, when Republicans were still eager to talk about contraception. The Obama administration, or so Mitt Romney charged in Colorado, was forcing religious institutions to provide "morning-after pills in other words abortive pills and the like, at no cost."

It was, of course, a lie. Romney was conflating two different pills: emergency contraception, known as the morning-after pill, which prevents a pregnancy; and chemical abortion, or mifepristone, which ends a pregnancy of up to seven weeks gestation and isn't covered under the new guidelines. Since both pills were marketed in the U.S. around the same time, even some pro-choicers have gotten confused. But Colorado happens to be the epicenter of people confusing them on purpose. It's the birthplace of the Personhood movement and home to Focus on the Family, both of which have strategically called emergency contraception "abortion" on the scientifically unproven basis that they could block a fertilized egg from implanting."
Anyway the "TURD" had no problem attending fund raising event at the home of the President of Teva Pharmaceutics in May.
Hell $50,000 a person from the manufacturers of the morning after pill Plan B what the big fuss about! I knew it wasn't the same as the abortion pill all along!

Yawn.....

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Speaking of birds....

CBS News) There was a clear winner in Wednesday's presidential debate -- at least when it comes to getting attention. Mitt Romney used public television star Big Bird to make a point about spending that triggered an avalanche of criticism.

Romney said during the debate, "I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I'm going to stop other things. I like PBS. I love Big Bird..... But I'm not going to -- I'm not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for."

snip

President Obama did not pounce directly during the debate. But he did Thursday on the trail, saying, "When (Romney) was asked what he'd actually do to cut the deficit and reduce spending, he said he'd eliminate funding for public television. That was his answer ... I mean, thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on Big Bird! It's about time. We didn't know that Big Bird was driving the federal deficit."

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

At least liberals tell it like it is... many of us think Romney, as clearly shown by his past and current indiscretions, is completely lacking in ethics, integrity, empathy, and any sort of connection to the very people he supposedly wishes to represent. These are among necessary qualities in Presidential material, while outward appearances are not.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I think it is very telling that two posters, who are voting for Romney, could only comment on the names I and others called Romney. I'm sorry I did so - I was upsest last night.

Anyway, instead of addressing the obvious big lie, which should insure his defeat, they make this post about name-calling. Which tells me that they have no justification for the lies that Romney has told, is telling.

And, someone who lies, continually, to voters to get them to vote for him, deserves defeat. He not an upstanding person. I hold, in very low regard, anyone who tells lies about important issues. Would you want to be married to someone who lies, even about unimportant things at the drop of a hat? Lying about even unimportant things would tell me that he isn't to be trusted. Lying about important things would scream that he isn't to be trusted.

So, Mrsk, demi and nik - how can you excuse the lying?

Ok NIK, forget all the minutia, and let's have a discussion about Romney. What's in the Romney package that you TRUST?
Being an Independent, I try to point out the shortcomings of both parties. However, the debate pushed me closer to voting for Obama. Why, you ask? Because Romney was LYING for the umteenth time. Surely, you're intelligent enough to decipher this yourself, without THIS forum. Am I right?

I don't know WHO Romney REALLY is.

Here you go again chase. I have said about the president that on a personal level I think he seems to be a pretty nice guy. A good husband and father. Just that I think he is in over his head and I don't agree with his policies, and a lot of the decisions he has made. If you can equate that with sleaze and douche bag, well, that says more about you than me, and we have nothing more to say to one another.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I suspect that Romney's moneyed backers will wink and nod-the original 47% thing was done in private-they know you cant say that sort of thing to the public. They know you have to 'temper' your campaign speeches to the group you are speaking to and they know that Mitt is one of them so I dont see this changing anything for the committed-they want on of their own in office again. But the Independents who really make the decision for everyone may not be so elastic. We will see.

I would point out as far as Obamas record on the economy goes and probably this wont do him any good in the good Ole USA is that he is considered to have done as well as possible by the leaders of other countries. They watch us with trepidation because our economic swings affect the whole world and the whole world is teetering at the moment. Those of you Like Nik and Demi and Mrsk have a myopic view of the world. You criticize the results of the Obama administration without even taking into consideration what is happening elsewhere. It is a mess out there. How much can one man opposed by an entire party plus a chunk of his own who want to party on do? Put Romeny in charge and you are going to get a depression that will set new standards for lows because he will not oppose the very people who put him where he is.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Are you guys so sure you have already lost this election?

The numbers show Romney's toast. It's one month to election day. As we get closer to that date, Nate Silver has Romney's odds getting longer and longer. Romney how has a 12.9% chance of winning. Another nail in the coffin is the 7.8% unemployment rate. It's officially lower than when Obama took office. We have to remind people if they want to go back to four more years of a Republican administration. People have already started voting. I should be receiving my packet next week. It goes back in the mail the next day.

I'm more now focused on us trying to win back the House than anything.

four years of The Savior

No trash talk here...

I think the GOP knew long ago that this election was a loser for the party. Any hopes otherwise vanished with the poor performance of Romney, and so the bickering and recriminations among the bitter base.

The Senate and House races are critical. If anyone thought that GOP obstruction was bad the last four years, any gains in the House and/or Senate will make that seem like a honeymoon of cooperation.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Posters who regularly make posts about Obama that are dripping with sarcasm and innuendo and scorn and even lies and distortions, posts that belittle, mock, put-down, denigrate (etc), are, in effect, indulging in an excessive amount of "name-calling"--if not literally, then surely in spirit. And we can all clearly hear it!

Of course, some people believe only in the literal--or the "letter of the law"--but it is rather naive to think that language is limited to only the most literal meaning possible. The great speakers/writers are well aware that language conveys much more than the literal. And most decent writers are well aware that language conveys more than the least amount of meaning you can possibly squeeze out of it. It conveys attitudes also--and the air is black and blue with the attitudes the Obama-haters convey.

According to Hemingway, 9/10s of the meaning is submerged and invisible, like a giant iceberg, below the waterline--but it is still there and momentous in its hidden power.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I've never understood the name calling at other posters. What is that about? We are supppose to be discussing the candidates. I don't understand attacking other posters by calling them filthy names, etc. adds to the discussion.

We all know we are not going to convince each other to change their view of the candidates, but do we have to attack each other like street thugs?

I'll say this again, even though it falls on deaf ears. Candidates families, especially their children, are off limits. Getting too pesonal about these candidates children and their relationship with their wives is very disturbing to me. Both candidates are loving fathers and husbands and that part of their life should be left out of any crude, rude discussion going on here.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I have learned since I have been coming to HT, the going theme is usually politics.

Which of a subject would get more heated than politics
or abortion.

Very hot topics and very committed supporters of each.

To me targeting the candidate, targeting a party per se
or targeting an abstract object is part of HT.

Of, course, tempers flair when your candidate
is bad mouthed. It is a verbal attack at your choice. Its saying you are making a bad choice,
you are not being very intelligent with a monumental decision.

I understand the different reactions and different sides
and also understand each others mind set.
Candidate attacks....sure...fair game....what words you
use in your name calling though says who you are.
Liar, flip-flopper, idiot, clueless, whiney, robot etc etc
.......go for it...I'm sure I have left out some that
one expects to hear hundreds of them.

But douch-bag....pond-scum , bast*** and
name calling like this shouldn't be acceptable to anyone on HT
against anyones candidate or anyone period.

The right is here to lay it all out there....the question
is why would it be acceptable to the marjority of us.
Even for HT this issue has now come to a fine line
between a Hot Topic and sinking to the bottom of the septic tank.

If words like this are continued to be used against
public figures then next they will start being used as
personl targeting against some posters.

That area has already become past acceptable to some of us.

I can get heated and I'm sure I describe a candidate in
unfavorable terms.
But its not a normal thought process for me personally
to net the septic system to come up with words like these
for regular consumption.
THAT mindset I don't understand.

Sometimes the urge to repost that thread where somebody (no names!) was called out for making racist remarks (note, never called a racist specifically or personally) and that somebody and all her somebody's BFFs who came to her defense and kept that thread alive and throbbing with great outrage over the very idea (!) that "free speech" was being muzzled (rather than accepting reactions for the free speech freely exercised) -

well, sometimes that urge to repost the thread itself or at least the name of that (currently) existing thread is like the urge to scratch a very itchy bug bite.

At least I wasn't myopic enough to believe the White House when it insisted our embassy in Libya was attacked on 9/11 by a "spontaneous" crowd upset over a video! Folks who actually believed that baloney know who they are.

"You criticize the results of the Obama administration without even taking into consideration what is happening elsewhere."

If Obama didn't know the world is always changing when he made those promises, it simply confirms what his record shows. Obama is in over his head. For the good of the country, and the future of our children and grandchildren, we need to elect a new president.

Yeah, like another knucklehead 'War' President, so we can put a dent in the next generation or two.

I don't think so. I remember Obama SPECIFICALLY stating that getting out of this mess of a recession was going to be long and protracted. Any way you color it, we are way better of than we were four years ago.

Mitt Romney has stated so many things this last year that he has backed down on, that I don't know where the guy stands. Doesn't matter much though really since Bush's former advisors have FLOCKED to Romney's campaign team. At least 39 at last count.

Based on this weeks edition of Mitt's lies he was on a roll. He surpassed himself.

Chronicling Mitt's Mendacity, Vol. XXXVII

Joe Conason watched the presidential candidates' debate this week, and had a reaction I could relate to.

"'It's not easy to debate a liar,' complained an email from one observer of the first presidential debate -- and there was no question about which candidate he meant. Prevarication, falsification, fabrication are all familiar tactics that have been employed by Mitt Romney without much consequence to him ever since he entered public life," Conason wrote.

Concerns along these lines were not uncommon yesterday. In fact, note David Gergen's take from Wednesday night:

"I think [President Obana] was so surprised, he thought Romney was just flat-out lying," Gergen said. And if the president was thinking that, he had good reason to.

Consider, for example, the 38th installment of my weekly series -- easily the longest of 2012 -- chronicling Mitt's mendacity.

1. In reference to the unemployment rate, Romney said, "The reason it's come down this year is primarily due to the fact that more and more people have just stopped looking for work."

That's not true.

2. On Fox News last night, Romney said in reference to the president, "[W]hat I find so offensive about his tax plan is by raising taxes on small business, as he does, he will kill jobs."

In reality, Obama has repeatedly cut taxes on small businesses -- by some counts, 18 times -- and if given a second term, his tax plan would have no effect on 97% of small businesses.

3. Speaking yesterday at the Colorado Conservative Political Action Committee Conference, Romney said, "this sequestration idea ... came out of the White House."

No, it didn't. This sequestration idea emanated from House Republicans.

4. In the same speech, Romney said Obama "spending more and more, borrowing more and more, putting us on a road to Greece."

That's painfully untrue.

5. In Wednesday night's debate, Romney said, "I don't have a $5 trillion tax cut. I don't have a tax cut of a scale that you're talking about."

Independent analysts determined the proposed across-the-board rate cut would cost $5 trillion.

6. Romney said, "I'm not going to reduce the share of taxes paid by high-income people. High-income people are doing just fine in this economy."

That's not true. The wealthy would receive a massive, disproportionate tax break under the Romney plan.

7. Romney said, "[G]asoline prices have doubled under the president."

To blame gas prices on the president's policies is ridiculously untrue.

8. Romney said, "I'm not going to cut education funding. I don't have any plan to cut education funding and grants that go to people going to college."

That's a lie.

9. Romney argued, "Energy is critical, and the president pointed out correctly that production of oil and gas in the U.S. is up. But not due to his policies. In spite of his policies. Mr. President, all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land, not on government land."

Wrong.

10. On taxes, Romney said, "I do want to reduce the burden being paid by middle-income Americans. And to do that that also means that I cannot reduce the burden paid by high-income Americans."

This is ridiculously untrue (and more than a little incoherent).

11. On taxes, Romney argued, "I will not reduce the share paid by high-income individuals. I -- I know that you and your running mate keep saying that, and I know it's a popular things to say with a lot of people, but it's just not the case."

Yes, it is the case.

12. Romney said, "I will not reduce the taxes paid by high-income Americans."

That's slightly different than the other lie. It's also equally wrong.

13. Romney said, "I will not, under any circumstances, raise taxes on middle-income families." He cited "six studies" to back him up on this.

There's ample evidence that Romney will have no choice but to raise taxes on middle-income families and the six studies don't back him up.

14. Romney said, "I saw a study that came out today that said you're going to raise taxes by 3 to $4,000 on middle-income families."

The study is wrong, and that's not what it said.

15. Romney said on tax rates, "Mr. President, you're absolutely right, which is that with regards to 97 percent of the businesses are not taxed at the 35 percent tax rate, they're taxed at a lower rate. But those businesses that are in the last 3 percent of businesses happen to employ half -- half -- of all of the people who work in small business."

That's a new one. It's also not true.

16. Romney said, "[Y]our plan is to take the tax rate on successful small businesses from 35 percent to 40 percent. The National Federation of Independent Businesses has said that will cost 700,000 jobs."

Oh, please.

17. Romney said, "What things would I cut from spending? Well, first of all, I will eliminate all programs by this test -- if they don't pass it: Is the program so critical it's worth borrowing money from China to pay for it? And if not, I'll get rid of it."

The implication here is that U.S. debt is financed by the Chinese, but this isn't true -- China only holds about 8% of the nation's debt.

18. In reference to how he'd balance the budget, Romney said he'll "get rid of" the Affordable Care Act.

This is incoherent and absurd. "Obamacare" cuts the deficit to the tune of about $109 billion over the next decade. It's simply incoherent to say you'll cut the deficit by eliminating a law, which would in turn increase the deficit. That's like promising to put out a fire by using more kerosene.

19. Romney said, "The president said he'd cut the deficit in half. Unfortunately, he doubled it."

Maybe Romney doesn't know what "double" means. The deficit on Obama's first day was $1.3 trillion. Last year, it was also $1.3 trillion. This year, it's projected to be $1.1 trillion. When he says the president "more than doubled" the deficit, as he has many times, Romney's lying.

20. Romney argued, "The president's put in place as much public debt, almost as much debt held by the public as all prior presidents combined."

He's said this before, but it's not even close to being true.

21. On subsidies, Romney said to the president, "[Y]ou say Exxon and Mobil -- actually, this $2.8 billion goes largely to small companies, to drilling operators and so forth."

Nice try, but no.

22. Romney said to Obama, "[Y[ou put $90 billion -- like 50 years' worth of breaks -- into solar and wind."

That's not quite right, and much of the $90 billion was appropriated by George W. Bush, not Obama.

23. Romney argued to the president, "[Y]ou said you get a deduction for getting a plant overseas. Look, I've been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you're talking about."

Romney's admitted cluelessness notwithstanding, he's simply wrong to argue the tax deduction doesn't exist. It's real.

24. On entitlements, Romney argued, "[N]either the president nor I are proposing any changes for any current retirees or near retirees, either to Social Security or Medicare. So if you're 60 or around 60 or older, you don't need to listen any further."

That's demonstrably wrong. Under Romney's policy, the cost of prescription drug prices and preventive care for seniors would go up immediately -- for current and future retirees. For that matter, since Romney's plan hastens Medicare's insolvency -- soon -- seniors should listen closely.

25. Defending his Medicare plan, Romney said the idea originated in part with Paul Ryan and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), "who's a co-author of the bill."

According to Ron Wyden, that's ridiculously untrue.

26. In reference to Dodd-Frank, Romney said, "[I]t designates a number of banks as too big to fail, and they're effectively guaranteed by the federal government. This is the biggest kiss that's been given to New York banks I've ever seen. This is an enormous boon for them.... I wouldn't designate five banks as too big to fail and give them a blank check."

This simply has no basis in fact.

27. In reference to Wall Street reform, Romney said, "It wasn't thought through properly.... [I]t's killing regional and small banks.

No, it's not.

28. In reference to the Affordable Care Act, Romney said, "It cuts $716 billion from Medicare to pay for it. I want to put that money back in Medicare for our seniors."

As I suspect Romney knows -- he'd already endorsed these same cuts earlier in the year -- he's just not telling the truth.

29. In the next breath, Romney says of the health care law, "[I]t puts in place an unelected board that's going to tell people, ultimately, what kind of treatments they can have."

This is getting awfully close to the "death panel" argument, and it's not true.

30. Romney vowed to "sit down with Democratic leaders as well as Republican leaders -- as we did in my state."

That's wildly misleading. In his one term, Romney issued more than 800 vetoes, over 700 of which were overridden, and demonstrated a "relative disinterest in bipartisan collaboration."

31. According to Romney, congressional Republicans unveiled a "bipartisan" health care reform plan in 2010. "It was swept aside."

There was no "bipartisan plan" from GOP lawmakers. Romney just made this up.

32. Asked what he would replace the Affordable Care Act with, Romney's exact words were, "Let, well, actually, actually it's , it's, it's a lengthy description."

That's a lie. Romney's online description of his health care reform plan is just 369 words.

33. Romney said, "Pre-existing conditions are covered under my plan."

I really wish that were true. It's not.

34. Romney, offering "proof" that the president's agenda is "not working," said, "23 million people are out of work."

That's not true. As of the time of the debate, there were 12.5 million Americans unemployed.

35. In reference to public support for green-energy companies, Romney argued, "These businesses, many of them have gone out of business. I think about half of them, of the ones have been invested in, they've gone out of business."

As Romney's own aides later admitted, this is demonstrably false.

36. In a TV campaign ad released this week, Romney said "Obama and the liberals already have ... raised taxes on the middle class."

That's obviously untrue; Obama has repeatedly cut taxes on the middle class. In fact, Romney admitted as much just last week.

37. In the same ad, Romney accused Obama of creating "government-run health care."

As Romney knows -- his own state health care law served as the blueprint for the president's plan -- the Affordable Care Act relies on private insurers, and is not "government-run health care."

38. The same ad claims consumers will be forced to "pay more for your medicine."

Actually, the only change in the cost of medication came for seniors -- and "Obamacare" closes the donut hole to make sure they pay less, not more.

39. The commercial goes on to say the Affordable Care Act "includes a trillion dollars in higher taxes -- even on the middle class."

This is apparently in reference to the individual mandate. And if the claim is true, then Romney's Massachusetts law also includes higher taxes -- even on the middle class.

40. In his weekly podcast, Romney said Obama's vision of international affairs is premised on seeing the United States "as merely one among many nations rather than as an exceptional nation."

Obama is the only president in American history to publicly and explicitly endorse the principle of American exceptionalism.

41. Romney also argued "our moral standing has declined" around the globe.

No, it hasn't. Respect and support for the United States around the world has improved under Obama.

42. Romney went on to say Obama no longer supports "standing with Israel."

Israelis say otherwise.

43. Romney also said the president "refuses to meet with Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu."

Obama has met with Netanyahu many times.

44. He went on to say, hoping to draw a contrast with the president, "I will never apologize for America."

How is it possible the whole "apology" lie hasn't gone away yet?

45. At a campaign event in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Romney said the president is "planning on cutting our military by about a trillion dollars over the next decade."

No, he's not. Obama is planning to cut defense spending, on the recommendation of the Pentagon and the Joint Chiefs, by about $500 billion over the next decade. There are other cuts looming, but they were crafted by Romney's party and endorsed by his own running mate.

46. At the same event, Romney argued, "[T]he president adds about a trillion dollars a year to the national debt."

It's true that in recent years, about a trillion dollars a year to the national debt, but it's not the president who's doing it.

47. Romney went on to say, "Do you realize that our Navy is smaller in terms of the number of ships than any time since 1917?"

This one again? Romney dropped this lie a while back, but it's apparently made a comeback.

48. Romney also vowed, "I will not raise taxes on middle-income Americans."

There's ample evidence that Romney will raise taxes on the middle class.

49. Romney went on to promise, "I've got a plan. I've got a plan to help free people pursue their dreams and get this economy going. And the good news is this: It'll create 12 million jobs."

Putting aside the pesky detail that Romney doesn't actually have a specific jobs plan, the fact remains that if we do nothing, we're on track to create 12 million new American jobs over the next four years anyway.

50. Romney added, "I want to take that big cloud off of the small business world that's hanging over them. Three-quarters of them say they don't want to hire more people because of this cloud and that cloud is Obamacare."

Romney's referring to a "survey" conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce if its members. The claim, however, is a misleading joke -- the Chamber, a pro-Republican lobbying institution heavily invested in helping Romney, put up an unscientific online survey. Treating this as a legitimate poll of businesses is fundamentally dishonest.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

At least I wasn't myopic enough to believe the White House when it insisted our embassy in Libya was attacked on 9/11 by a "spontaneous" crowd upset over a video!

I happen to believe that when it comes to catching terrorists it may not be advantageous to reveal what you know.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Waste of time. They are defending one of their own. Birds of a feather indeed.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I forgot to post this cartoon on the other thread.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I have found in HT the persons who continuously use
the racist card are the persons on the left side of the aisle.

I think its common knowledge...for whatever reason...the
left side of the aisle has a race-guilt complex and it
plays such an important role in their road to recovery,
they have taken on the role of trying to prove their
"loyalty" and show their "look at me, I'm pure as the driven snow,
I'm not like "those" people ", that they
manufactor the slant of racism against the right.

I have seen this attack sooooooooo many times in HT
against nearly every conservative on this forum.
We are use to it. It had been used so much as a "gottcha"
on here against the right , its become a joke.

So to the persons that have the racist-guilt complex and need to
assuage that itch.....do whatever it takes.

We know if we say, "I think I will buy a white car",
we are going to be labeled racist.

Its just something the left has a fixation with
and it goes along with the saying, if you cry wolf
too much, and the wolf is not there, then you lose
all credibility and it ends up as ho-hum.

Which is really a shame because there is still such a
level of racism against so many and a legitimate reason
to champion for those out there, that it is used in vain and lacks any serious purpose here.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

"I happen to believe that when it comes to catching terrorists it may not be advantageous to reveal what you know."

I happen to KNOW that when you're too stupid to protect your ambassador and staff in the first place, you've already told terrorists everything they need to know.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

citywoman, I assume you have a degree in psychiatry and/or psychology to make the assumptions you throw out there in such a facile way. You think that what you propound is "common knowledge"? Have you taken a survey or talked to hundreds or thousands of liberals? What is it about you that should lend credibility to such wide-ranging generalizations? So far I've found nothing in your past posting history that would make me want to do so.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Well, ingrid, it comes as no surprise to me at all that
you would attack my degree in psychology or lack there of.

One doesn't need a degree in anything but common sense,
which I am blessed with, to be able to be a relatively
perceptive person when it comes to reading over and over
and over again the same accusations from the same persons,

to those on the right , regarding racism.

It has become old....and in my opinion....I think it is
a racist-guilt hang-up. It is too often used and never
has any actual basis. Its just used as a "gottcha".

It has lost its legitimacy on here and I find that a
shame that the left has used it so often and it has become so ho-hum.

Now as for your past posting history. I don't remember
any of it....you have posted here before? :)

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

The majority of postings by this poster that I have read have been talking trash about other posters, not topics, citywoman.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

demi, thank you for educating citywoman about me. The "talking trash" you allude to has consisted of asking people like you to do something more than posting emotional rants i.e. to give some answers when being asked questions and to actually stick to a topic that's being discussed instead of discussing your psyche at great length.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

See?

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

demi, that was a tongue-in-cheek response to ingrid because she
commented on my past postings.
I remember her very well and I do remember her trashing
other posters.

After a while you know who, how, exactly when and what
the attack will be.

Those posts I flip through to get to what the
well-informed, no kool-aid drinkers on the right have to say.

You would be one of those I find informative.

See?

A light bulb just went off! I get it now! Wow, I don't know why it took me this long. I'm usually much swifter than that.

Apparently, asking posters questions and THEN EXPECTING ANSWERS is attacking them.

Wow, who knew!? Not me. But at least now I understand why they don't answer. They think they were "attacked".

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

No, jill, you are totally on the wrong track.

But I don't have the time or inclination to get you on the right one.

Your posts seem to be more interested in trying very hard to get attention through pot shots at people that don't engage you or address you rather than considering someone's opinion and either differing with it or letting it go.

Carry on, which I'm sure you will do if past behavior is indicative of future behavior.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

demi and citywoman, the two of you make a cute couple. It's always good to have someone to turn to for knee-jerk support. I haven't availed myself of that opportunity yet and I think I'll just leave that to you and a few like-minded posters. If my calling a spade a spade is deemed to be an insult I can't change that. If I wanted to really insult you there would be no doubt in your mind, but I have no wish to do that. All I want to do is discuss the issues, and not to make insulting comments about you or any group of people. I have no wish to join those ranks.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

All I want to do is discuss the issues, and not to make insulting comments about you or any group of people.

*

That's easy enough to do.

You should try it.

Just click your heels together and refrain from posting negative comments about a poster when they say something you disagree with.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Sometimes you just have to figure out which team you want to be on and gear thread responses accordingly: the intellectually satisfying or merely the passionate advocate.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

No, I do believe I am on the right track. It actually explains a lot. I've been trying to understand the complete reluctance to answer questions since I got here. It's now starting to make sense.

I often post my opinions, agree or disagree with lots of posts here. Perhaps you don't notice because you seem to only be looking for something about you. Try reading everything instead of just the demi stuff. You might learn something.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

A barely respectable B- effort in trying to be condescending to me, jill.

You just proved my point.

 o

Note the silence on Romney's lies.

>>Your posts seem to be more interested in trying very hard to get attention through pot shots at people that don't engage you or address you rather than considering someone's opinion and either differing with it or letting it go<<

What is it with you and this ridiculous "engage you" shitt? Unlike the pure, unspoiled, unmessy, priveledged world some people live in, message boards/forums are NOT Instant message, NOT email, NOT private, period.

Which means you don't get to grant permission to anyone who wants to reply. Of course, you CAN filter those you don't want to see or hear or, good heavens, spoil your view. Anything and everything you post on a PUBLIC forum is OPEN to anyone to reply, respond or react in anyway they so choose.

That is how these forums/message boards work.

Someone posts something.

It is visible for all to see.

('Course, you are fully aware of that fact...it is why you post, after all. It feeds your ego. The problem for you is that you don't think this is a 2 way street. Much to your chagrin, this is not your private domain where you get to set the rules. Rules, btw, that you don't feel apply to you.

Someone responds to what you posted.

Doesn't matter that you weren't "talking" to them. Doesn't matter if you have never "talked" to them.

But see, that is the other problem. You ARE talking to others with what you say and what you post and how you say it. Whether you, personally, address them or not.

And others do listen. More importantly, they hear.

Posters here are not your gardener, or such, who need your permission or approval. Everyone is on equal footing, here. There are no underlings om message baords/forums. They are a true democracy.

Well practiced withering looks do NOT work here, however much you wish they would. No. This is not your private domain.

RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

And you certainly would know about condescending! I agree. I have a lot to learn about that technique you've perfected.

maddie - it doesn't go unnoticed. There have been several posts recently asking people why they are ok voting for someone that lies so much and so easily. I haven't seen an answer.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I haven't seen an answer, either, Jill. I see diversion, silence on the issues, and plenty of "board technique", but no solid answers.

If lying were a good thing, that would be an impressive list from Romney. But lying is not a good thing. Much like a used car salesman, Romney uses a variety of techniques designed to mislead his followers. And like misinformed consumers, his followers will ignore the lies, neglect correcting their ignorance of the truth, and blindly go where Republicans keep going... in the opposite direction of their best interests, or those of their fellow Americans.

Thanks, Esh, for due diligence. That's a heinous list of lies. Again, I'd like to know what there is about Romney that anyone could support? What is it about his platform... and I use that term loosely... that makes someone think he's the more qualified for the position of President, and what about his platform is good for America?

If lying and misinforming were good things, he'd be top of the heap... but they're very bad things.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

I think Romneys Theme song for the next debate should be "Who Can it Be Now" by Men at Work

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

jill, you , a rabid Obama supporter, would ask the right
why they would vote for a liar (your description) and Jodik
is also wanting an answer.

When questions so juvenile are asked....you do not get an answer.
It is just so beneath most adults to respond to
such obvious silly jabbing.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Why is it beneath you to respond to the lies? They are plain as the nose on your face. You just have such a hatred for Obama you choose to ignore. I won't provide any links because there are many out there which you don't choose to peruse. Maybe they would burst your bubble...break your rose colored glasses.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

If lying were a good thing then Obama would have this election in the bag. I think it really shows us what his plans are for the next four years. It's still Bush's fault, and my record speaks for itself...and boy does it ever.

 o

Birds of a feather indeed.

This wins the prize for THE MOST RIDICULOUS POST EVER.

First of all, I am not a "rabid Obama supporter". I am a rabid supporter of human rights and doing the right thing for our society. And, even more importantly, I am a rabid supporter of NOT LYING.

Yes, Obama has lied. Every politician has and does lie. Unfortunately, it is to be expected. And, it's why everyone should do their research and not just believe what they hear. Doing your research does not mean listening to Fox News and nothing else. It means doing some research and THINKING. Something you are clearly not able to do. Evidenced by your response to my post.

Romney's lies are totally outrageous. If you are running for the highest office in this country it is your responsibility to tell us, the American people, what you stand for. Not to change what you stand for because you are down in the polls. Not to change what you stand for when you are talking to the average American while telling your rich buddies you don't care about the rest of the country. If you cannot tell us what you stand for and what you want to do, why should you expect my vote?

If you are not willing to answer questions (which in case you aren't aware is required to have a discussion about the issues), why are you on this board?

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

BUT, Jill!

You're not supposed to question anything dontcha know? Me, I won't bother, I draw my own conclusions. Works just fine.

Joe--sure sounds like you & Batya & Mrs. Batya had one heck of a good time!

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

Jill, but CW outdoes herself at every post she makes..lol. We dems are not so much "in love" with our candidate as we believe his platform and are against everything in the GOP's platform. We libs absolutely are petrified that a goon like Ryan is the veep choice. He's worse than Palin, because he isn't as dumb. I was very disappointed in Obama's debate performance and am confident he'll pick it up.

I catch FOX at the gym and see exactly where all you Righties get your talking points.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

You're right, lily. I'm sure CW's next post will be the most ridiculous ever. Everytime I think she can't say something more outrageous, she proves me wrong. Every time!

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

When questions so juvenile are asked....you do not get an answer.
It is just so beneath most adults to respond to
such obvious silly jabbing.

Nothing juvenile about a question that is based on something PROVEN not to mention it is a question that millions of other Americans are asking as well. Just look at the polls.

If you had any answers you would be able to answer Jill articulately with facts and do so willingly and easily. It can only benefit your candidate and and you.
Apparently you can't so you use what you have - nothing - no answers so instead you go after the person who asks the question.
Your non-answer or inability to is actually an answer in itself.

 o
RE: Romney Just Lost the Election!!

CW, it just boggles the mind to think that after reading your latest post, one thinks that it is the most absurd one you've posted, that you can't post anything even more absurd, and yet you do.

What is so juvenile about asking you how you or anyone could vote for a known, documented flip flop, liar for president?

You call that "silly jabbing". could you possibly explain what that means?

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can vote for any GOP candidate, considering what the GOP itself stands for, it's platform that is so far right it's more than frightening.
A platform that goes so over the top in going backwards for women's right, equal rights, essentially anything that has been gains, good gains for the people and this country.

You call that juvenile to ask such questions?

Sorry CW, but juvenile is making the statements that you make, uniformed works well for you and certainly not able to understand and face reality is appropriate as well.

If you truly supported your candidate and had a good understanding of what your candidate stood for, believed in and you agreed with it, you would be able to explain why you support your candidate even though he is a documented out right liar.

You truly have no understanding what a Romney administration would be like in the White House, or what dangers, what disasters can befall the country with Romney as President.

Disaster, misery, is just the beginning of what can be expected, and I say that from personal experience. He was the governor of my state and left it in total chaos, disaster, destruction.

The truth about Romney as governor of MA is available by google searches, none of it is pretty, that is if you look at the truth, not one party side or the other, the real truth.

Romney as the head of the entire country, is not something that the majority of MA residents can even begin to imagine.

I know CW, reality is tough to deal with and accept. You show that every time you post something.
Truth is tough, but you really need to come out of your "dream world, your fantasy land, the bubble that you seem to live in" and see what harm Romney can and would do as President.

It's not a pretty picture.

Obama lies? LOL, he can't hold a candle to the Romney/Ryan lying tag team. If you want to see lies on steroids then go ahead and vote RR into office.

Mitt Romney / Paul Ryan 2012

"Yes, Obama has lied. Every politician has and does lie. Unfortunately, it is to be expected.

Romney's lies are totally outrageous."

Watch out for Ingrid--that's "President Obama" to you.

So, the president's lies are what, better lies than the govwernor's? That's too funny!
