Lets Talk Health Care Reform....

What exactly is Obama's plan?

I personally think that they should start with the insurance companies by NOT letting them get away with what they have for so long. They charge huge premiums and make a habit of denying coverage or putting a cap on what they will pay for any medicine or procedure.

Poeple are dying or going without care all the while the evil insurance companies make billion and billions in profit.

By the way, they do the same things on the property side too and they continue to get away with it. WHY?

Because they are inadequately regulated. I hope one early move will address the regulation of insurance companies.

Even though this does not affect me because I live in Ontario, I would love to see a lot of reform done here. Having "free" coverge which isn't really "free" in Ontario is really nice but the wait times for procedures like MRI's or surgeries can be months if not years. I'm hoping that something in between can be developed where your Insurance companies can't dictate who can be your doctor, what medications or procedures they will allow. It's time that a system was established that everyone could have and people who have illnesses won't be bankrupted.

Also it looks like Obama may support good health prevention initiatives as well. Wouldn't it be nice if you got a tax deduction to help pay for a health club? - providing of course you went!

An insurance company makes people pay dues, and spreads the risk by overcharging premiums.

Guess what - that's what a socialist government does.

At least one that tries to raise a profit.

The first issue would be to destroy the profit motive in insurance - our nation's health is NOT for sale.

The second to murder the costs.

800 dollars for an MRI is ridiculous no matter WHO pays.

if it weren't for insurance, things would be cheaper.

well, due to what he saw his mother go through while dying, I wouldn't think Obama is going to be overly sympathetic to the insurance companies
