| The Sage of The Bayou wants the Grand Old Part to stop being so dumb. Well the rest of us would also appreciate something along those lines but really Piyush can you just ask for this and have it happen!
Jindal on Monday called on Republicans to "stop being the stupid party" and make a concerted effort to reach a broader swath of voters with an inclusive economic message that pre-empts efforts to caricature the GOP as the party of the rich. See if any of us had said this we'd be just mean old LIB's. "We've got to make sure that we are not the party of big business, big banks, big Wall Street bailouts, big corporate loopholes, big anything," Jindal told POLITICO in a 45-minute telephone interview. "We cannot be, we must not be, the party that simply protects the rich so they get to keep their toys."
Well it sounds populist but I don't think it's going to play! This statement will come back to haunt him in 2015! |

| Some on the right want some sanity... "EDITOR OF REDSTATE By: Erick Erickson (Diary) : November 13th, 2012 at 11:32 AM : 156 RESIZE: AAA Barack Obama won the election. He did not win by stealing the election. Voter irregularities always happen. It is one reason we support voter ID rules. But even in the worse scenario of reports out there, there were not enough tales of voter irregularities to matter nationwide. This is another benefit and built in safeguard of the electoral college. Barack Obama won. He won by turning out the most people in a well run campaign. In other words, he won fair and square. We here at RedState are American citizens. We have no plans to secede from the union. If you do, good luck with that, but this is not the place for you. We have a place for you here if you wish to continue the fight against Republicans in Washington like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell whod be happy to sell us down the river to keep their power, no matter how devoid of principle or sound policy. You have a place here if youd like to keep fighting the Democrats who are intent on further stifling economic growth, pushing forward with Obamacare, bankrupting the nation, and siding with teachers unions against kids who deserve better. Too many people have spent the past four years obsessed with birth certificates. Now they are obsessed with voter fraud conspiracies, talk of secession, and supposed election changing news stories if only we had known. So lets add dabblers in this latest nuttiness to birthers as a category of people we do not welcome at RedState. Our aim is to beat the Democrats, not beat a retreat to a Confederacy that Generals Grant and Sherman rent asunder well over a hundred years ago. Even here at RedState, while we may not much care for him, President Obama is still our President and we are still quite happily citizens of the United States. If we must drain this fever swamp thats taken hold of a few people on the right over this past week before we can drain the swamp in Washington, so be it. All others need not apply. Sincerely, |

| Yes I heard about that but can the Editors dictate what the readers infect themselves with on WND, The American Thinker or just plain old Fox |

| Just a glimmer of sanity. |

| Republicans lost because their ideas and ideology were rejected by more and more open-minded critically thinking independent voters, including young voters. What a sweet, sweet victory against small minded, closed minded, diabolical old men who think they know everything. The unfortunate reality is that Republicans will never change so they have to be defeated again and again, until they fade away. A lot of the old geezers won't be able to make it to the polls in four years so this problem will eventually take care of itself. |

| Talk is cheap. It is amazing they think if they say the right words and not support policies that reflect the words minds will change. Everybody does not have abusive wife syndrome. |

| Good post, Don. |

| I wouldn't bet on that, Heri... indoctrination, the ingraining of prejudice, and/or ignorance is, or can be, quite generational. Talk IS cheap, but this might be the foundation brick Jindal needs to make a run at higher office in the future. Just because they say something at one time, doesn't mean they'll actually follow through on those words, but some people will remember that they were said. So, while Jindal did utter some lines that a lot of folks on various sides of politics might agree with... like, "...we need to trust the intelligence of the American people and we need to stop insulting the intelligence of the voters." ... and, "Simply being the anti-Obama party didn't work. You can't beat something with nothing. The reality is we have to be a party of solutions and not just bumper-sticker slogans but real detailed policy solutions." ... it doesn't mean we could find real sincerity if we looked at an x-ray or ultrasound, so to speak. But at least we know he's smart enough to realize how to play to voters... "...make a concerted effort to reach a broader swath of voters with an inclusive economic message that pre-empts efforts to caricature the GOP as the party of the rich." Only time will tell whether or not the GOP will begin to heal by ridding itself of the infection that's overtaken it, or whether or not they're sincere about that healing process. If memory serves, Jindal isn't all that popular with many people...

| Jindal blasting the other Republicans for being crazy? Snort. |
|
| I wouldn't bet on that, Heri... indoctrination, the ingraining of prejudice, and/or ignorance is, or can be, quite generational. The prejudice, and/or ignorance is, or can be, quite generational but it is also predominantly regional. The population of the dumb down regional voting society are not there to succeed in a national Presidential election. |
|
| Which ties this thread in nicely with the one on Southern Strategy... keeping racism alive and well isn't difficult when you also keep ignorance alive and well and education levels good and low. |
|
| ...say the right words and not support policies that reflect the words minds will change Or we could say it is the "policy stupid", throwing a minority on stage or having a few stand behind you fools no one, least of all those who you disparage as "takers". Stay the course... |
