 o
Bachmann as the next VP?

According to some TV political talk shows, Bachmann is trying her best not to criticize Romney--because she is hoping he will pick her for his running mate. I guess she figures he needs to play not only to the religious rightwingers, but also to women voters--so he would get "two for one" (to paraphrase a famous couple--LOL--) by picking her. Obviously, he NEEDS her if he plans to win--or so she figures.

Do you think the Republicans will take a chance again on a woman at the top of the ticket? I predict it will be a long time before they will "trust" a woman there again--but, of course, it is their own fault for having picked such a questionable woman the first time around.

Depends on the woman.

Ms. Bachmann as VP? Unlikely, as she has the same undesirable foot-in-mouth charatceristics and unpopularity as her predecessor. A "traditional Republican" - no Tea Party darling - who is more polished, a good speaker, and knowledgable on topics- why not?

RE: Bachmann as the next VP?

I would be happy to regularly see all types of women running for and periodically getting the top positions (though I'd prefer to see a Democratic woman get it first), but I think Bachmann is calculating that Romney is already viewed as being too "traditional" and therefore NEEDING someone with impeccable right-wing credentials (like herself).

Maybe a related question is why the Republican women candidates are coming from the right-wing rather than from the more moderate or traditional part of the party. I'm struck by what seems to be a possible repeat pattern: male at top who is not totally accepted by the Republican (right-wing) base, with a woman at his side in second place who is adored by the right-wing base. That combination didn't work that well last time, but they may be repreating it again. (Both white also.)

I venture to guess that Ms Bachmann would be at least as toxic to the ticket as Ms Palen proved to be for McCain. Ms Bachmann already has a thick portfolio of 'HUH!?!?! quotes out there, which wouldn't play well with a lot of people.

Didn't this prove to not work in 2008? Doubt they'd try it again unless they have a death wish.

She's delusional, if this is the case.

A Romney-Bachmann ticket would scare more voters than it would attract.

"A Romney-Bachmann ticket would scare more voters than it would attract."

Precisely.

It appears to me that the Tea Party is losing it's influence/control. The polls reflect serious dissatisfaction with the Republicans in Congress. I believe that the Tea Party is largely seen as the cause for the incredible dysfunction.

The last debacle re the payroll tax extension really ticked off a huge number of Americans. In addition the overwhelming majority of Republicans favour a tax hike for the wealthy yet their party refuses to go there because of the "oath" they took. I think the establishment Republicans in Congress have had it with the Tea Party bunch.

Mrs Bachmann is just way to extreme for most Americans, heck she can't even get a good number in Iowa.

Christie is on the bus with Romney in Iowa. He seems to be a very popular Republican . I just don't know if he has the credentials to attract the born again Christian element who seem to be so important. Then again where are they going to go!

I don't like Romney one bit BUT I do sense a move in the States back away from the radical element and back to a more mainstream Republican party....and that would not be Ms Bachmann.

Michele B. is toxic. She won't get the nomination. I am guessing that Christie might be the one who gets the VP nomination. I think the Tea Party will be pretty much ignored. I also think all those crazy TP congressman should start saying bye-bye.

Bachmann is a flake, was a flake & will be a flake tomorrow!
The people she went out on a a limb for like Bradley Dean now claim shes a flake!
At a Payer session to expand Bradlee Deans Homo hating ministry she proclaimed last days end at hand secnario.
Since then Dean has denounced her as she has pulled away from her God chooses us we don't choose him position & that nothing is more important than converting these end day doomed Usians to the true evangelical jibber jabber that is her core . He claims shes smells like rancid cheese because shes become afraid to be a flame thrower like he is. This is a woman who raise money for the MINISTER
