Beautiful! I just got one of these myself this fall and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it makes it to spring and then takes off. My leaves aren't that spectacular, but I hope they will be soon. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow...that is one GREAT photo you took. What kind of camera are you using? I can never get my close up to look that neat. Healthy looking curtisii also. Congrats on both. Marcy
i'm not always so lucky with closeup pictures, especially if the subject is lighter valued than the background-i was also using a 'cool blue' fluorescent twist bulb which seems to give me clearer definition than the 'warm' ones. my camera is a fuji finepix S3000. its a good camera for closeups but you need bright light or it fuzzes up easily. the hoya is growing well, it's under fluorescent twist bulbs and i water it when it's almost completely dry..
Yes, I too found that particular hoya does like to go almost dry before watering. Fast draining mix too. It also does not seem to care much for sun. Marcy
I like this Hoya a lot & it seems very unfussy in my experience. I have a couple of small pots of it hanging on the edge of a west window where it gets a lot of light. I have some small support in it, so that it climbs rather than hands down. Mine is in active growth right now.
I too use a fast draining mix for it, but have it over a large pebble tray, I only water it once a week, but I do give it a thorough drenching. This once seems to like the ocassional misting.
GREAT picture Skeptis, texture sort of reminds me of lizard skin (or what I'd imagine that would look like in close-up).
Hoping you all find this Hoya as carefree as I have. Happy (Hoya) New Year!
