It was developing its buds during a time where the temperatures were fluctuting a lot. I think that caused the mosaic effect. Red Buttons is wierd. It has flowered 3 times in the last couple of years but has made maybe 2 new leaves. I repotted it after these flowers so maybe that will help.

I finally have Red Buttons back in my collection after not having it for a while. I remember when mine flowered, I loved the scent and it reminded me of a Tootsie Roll/Pop. It definitely got muskier at night, as Denise would say. The flowers are stunning and mine had shades of pink/purple in them as well. Now, I'm reminded why the pubicalyxes are some of my favorite Hoyas. :-) Brad AKA Moonwolf

I just had to have one since you enabled me with this beautiful picture as it seems everyone is doing to me these days..lol I am now up to about 15 Hoya when I had about 7 2 weeks ago and I can't wait till mine look as nice as yours. I have one coming from Thailand too. Brad, I am with you on this one. I finally have one too and with all that you have added to these forums, I can be more successful with them. Your last comment was all it took for me along with Tigerdawns beautiful pic. 'Dave' here too is a gifted grower and I thank him for all he does! Mike

Thank you Mike and GG! *Waves to both of you* How I miss my older plant (where I first experienced the scent) and hoping my new baby plant of it gets a healthy start. I may seek out more cuttings of it to fill the pot, like some of my other plants. *hint hint*. Brad AKA Moonwolf
