Well I've never seen or heard of it. Been here since before the beginning of Hoya Forum, don't ever recall varied tone flowers like that - really. I'll be curious to hear from others who've been here for yrs.
I find these quite striking. The dark color maroon/dark makes me wonder Pubicalyx RHP maybe? Wow!
That's one of the best photographs I've seen capturing this type of bloom, Renee. Way to go! You always take very nice photographs.
Yeah, it was for this characteristic that the so-called publicalyx Chimera (syn. RHP, probably) got its name. I agree that even other publicalyx cultivars frequently show a touch of this.
This reminds me of a photo I took a couple years ago of two flower spurs on my 'RHP' at the same time...
I held the two spurs together and took the photo to show the big difference in flower color. It doesn't really surprise me that one spur would have the two different colors.
Thanks everyone for your comments, I will pass them along to her.
And thanks for the compliment GG, but in this case, not mine. The photo was also taken by my friend, but she allowed me to post it on this forum for all your help, sorry I should have made that clear.
Hey rennfl, if you are still around and your friend still has this plant I would be extremely intersted in buying a cutting! I realize it's been a few years, so if you get this please comment after! Thanks!
