Eleanor's VF-11 and Birds....

For those who have hoyas and birds...Eleanor called me this evening and she could hear my parrots in the background...she told me that she, too, has birds. She then went on to explain that a woman told her that her birds looked terrible and that she started to spray them with Eleanor's VF-11...an amazing improvement in both their plumage and in their attitudes...so, Eleanor did a test with hundreds of birds...and confirmed that spraying your birds often with the same mixture of VF-11 and water...room temperature...would enhance their feathering and make them much happier. It's a long story that she told me...and I was thrilled, but am guessing that you may not be as thrilled as I am...but, thought I'd offer this as a suggestion for those of you with "feathered friends". I plan on starting the spraying tomorrow. Patrick

I don't have birds, but I have to admit that I find this fascinating! I'm starting to wonder what that "miracle ingredient" is in VF-11! Maybe I'll have to try it on my hair! Denise in Omaha

Patrick, that's an amazing story, I would have never in a million years ever think you can use VF-11 on birds. Please keep us updated...I'm in awe over this,lol...We need to find out just what is in this stuff :o). Denise if you try it on your hair let me know,ha, ha.

Truthfully, spraying birds always enhances their plumage...with just cool water...but, as Eleanor tested the VF-11 on hundreds of birds..she said many of the birds were nearly bald...losing feathers...which is either due to a pest, a nutritional deficiency or being plucked by other more aggressive birds...and all the bald ones regrew their feathers...within a couple of weeks. I, in all honesty, believe that this happened because, when wet, birds will "preen" their feathers...and when preening their feathers, they get the ingredients of VF-11 in their system...and this helps to compensate for nutritional inadequacies. So, I don't think it'd help Denise's hair, unless she was to spray her hands with VF-11 and lick the moisture off...or, more easily, drink a mixture of water and VF-11...it surely wouldn't harm anyone...and quite likely would cause some improvements. Birds LOVE to be sprayed...they're very meticulous about their feathers...so, I sprayed mine today...they love being sprayed...then they spent 30 minutes preening their feathers...so, the VF-11 got into their system. None of my parrots are bald, so I don't expect to see any dramatic improvements...but, I do believe they'll perk up just because they love the attention they're receiving!! The birds that Eleanor tested were, obviously, deficient in certain nutrients...VF-11 wouldn't stop other birds from plucking them, nor would VF-11 rid the birds' feathers of pests, i.e., mites. Eleanor believes that indoor pets miss out on a lot of necessary nutrition due to being indoors....she stated the importance of animals and birds of being exposed to "dew". I always assumed that dew was just water...but, Eleanor believes it contains nutrients. So, I learned something new!! To make this more of a "hoya" subject...don't forget to spray your hoyas once you've finished spraying your birds!! LOL Fondly, Patrick

Plum, It's not a traditional fertilizer, but more of a mineral supplement. As Eleanor says on her site..."VF-11 is non-toxic....so if it blows back into your face when you're Foliar Feeding your roses.... no need to worry.... it's gentle, gentle, gentle, and safe." Since every creature on the planet is likely mineral deficient, we should all be taking supplements, which is why (I'm sure) it seems to improve their plumage... Denise in Omaha

As Eleanor says on her site..."VF-11 is non-toxic....so if it blows back into your face when you're Foliar Feeding your roses.... no need to worry.... it's gentle, gentle, gentle, and safe." I am not being argumentative here at all but I do feel the need to state my humble opinion since living creatures are being involved. Just because this is supposed to be more of a mineral supplement and this woman states it's safe, doesn't make ME personally feel safe about not treating it as a chemical and keeping it away from my kids and pets. There just is way too little scientific documentation on what this stuff is and what it will do. The only specifics regarding safety I've been able to find out are the vague references on this woman's page plus several private experiments pro and con. Many people love it for plants, many people don't, fine, it's purpose is for plants and everyone should have their own opinion. But I wouldn't feel safe about spraying myself repeatedly over time just to see what happened. Therefore, I certainly wouldn't feel safe about spraying my kids or pets in the same manner. This is just my personal opinion. |

OUCH!! I apologize for having posted what a well-respected business-woman shared with me. FYI...Eleanor is hoping to put out a product containing the same minerals (not chemicals) for use on birds...not children or other pets. I guess you just "live and learn"...too many "holier than thou" people in this world. Patrick

In angeleyedcat's defense, she did state it was her personal opinion. I don't think she was trying to blast what you said. And if she doesn't want to use it on her birds, then that's her thing. I personally am not too worried about VF-11, especially since I spill it on myself by accident on a regular basis. But I tend not to be too worried about fertilizers either. Whether or not I should be, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think getting a little bit on yourself here and there is harmful. I definitely wouldn't bathe in it though, and I don't get any on anyone else, nor do I ingest it. In any case, if it makes you nervous to get it on yourself or your pets, better safe than sorry, right? BTW, Patrick, I still owe you pics of a wick watering example. I didn't forget, I just spent the day fighting off what I think was the flu. But a mild case of it, since a good long sleep seems to have made things a lot better.

Thanks quinnfyre, you're right, I'm not blasting anyone at all and that's why I said several times it was just my opinion, even in disagreement, to each his own as we all are entitled to have our own opinions. As I said above after researching the product "I" and "Me" wouldn't consider using it on anything other than plants, and yes, I just feel better being safe than sorry. Again, I am not being argumentative here at all so I will not keep this going after this post. Have a good day all.
