hoyas at my local Walmart

| Good Evening everyone,
I was browsing in the plant dept at my local walmart today and came across some 8 inch hanging baskets of exotic angel hoyas labeled as "chelsea". I went to the EA website when I got home but couldn't find such a plant. I don't have a digital camera readily available but it's possible I can get my daughter to include a pic in a couple days. In the meantime it has a shiney green leaf that is sort of "cupped" or curved upward. Any clues? Thanks in advance for any help you can give. |

| Sorry, I have no idea but I was wondering what the EA website is. I've seen a couple referrals to it so I'm curious. |

Supermom, H chelsea has kind of succulant heart shape leaves with the dimples. Photo would help ID. Jmerk, EA(Exotic Angel) website link.http://www.exoticangel.com/Varieties/ |

| jmerk, the EA website is the "exotic angel" website. They are the growers of certain types of hoyas. although they produce lovely plants, there always seems to be some mix up about names and mislabeling plants. jan1, I'm sorry if my description isn't quite accurate. It's hard to describe plants sometimes so that others can picture them in their minds. I did state tho that I didn't have a camera readily available but I will try to have my daughter post a pic in the next couple of days. The leaves aren't really so much heart shaped as a fat, almost round heart. And the leaves aren't so much dimpled as veiny or wrinkled and lined. and they are a glossy, shiney green. Hope that helps to clarify until I can get a picture posted. BTW the above link is where I checked when I said I checked the EA website but "chelsea" isn't listed there. sorry for the confusion. |

I saw the same one at the local Walmart as well. It is H. Carnosa 'Chelsea' and I understand it's a new one. There are pictures on the following sites: gootziecat |
Here is a link that might be useful: H. Carnosa

| 'Chelsea' is a particularly pretty cultivar of carnosa. I love the slightly heart-shaped, cupped leaves. It's nice to know that EA is offering it now. I'm anxious to see your photo of it when you get a chance, S-mom! EA plants are always so big and healthy (if they haven't been in the hands of the box store employees too long, that is...) | I haven't see one of those at our local Walmart, I did buy a small 4" pot on Ebay though...I hope it means we will be getting them in our local Walmart soon. I'd love to get an 8" pot, especially for the price they sell theirs for! Beautiful Chelsea Jan! |

| Thanks everyone! this plant is not EA hoya, it's from Ebay 3 years ago. I haven't seen EA hoya chelsea yet here. Jan |

| I haven't seen this one anywhere yet, but I like the look of the foliage. It looks like a cross btwn Carnosa & Krinkle 8 -- those dents or dimples are what's reminding me of Krinkle 8. Very nice, I too like the cupped effect. |

| I got my Chelsea at Wal-Mart more than a month ago. It is an EA plant and was/is gorgeous. Cowboyflowerman sells them in his Ebay store. Susan |

| I got mine at walmart last year. I think it was a three inch pot for 1.97. It had a EA tag that just said "hoya". I repotted it and it's close in size now to Jan's. |

I never like buying hoyas at walmart. They are usually bug eaten. In fact, I really have to search to find them anywhere! No one at HD, Lowe's or Walmart even knows what a hoya is! Love your pic. Here's the one I just picked up a couple of days ago! Carolyn

| Very nice hoya...that one looks very healthy and Huge! If it were mine I would remove the bottom to help it dry out better. I've never seen H. Chelsea in any of my big box stores here...Enjoy! |

Yep, I took the bottom off, right after I took the pic. It's a relatively new purchase & was being left alone . . . I honestly forgot about the bottom until yesterday afternoon! Poor plant . . . :) Carolyn |
