Compost Tea + Hoyas = ?

Clearly I am the biggest dork ever since my sister gave me compost tea for my birthday. I haven't used this stuff before, but since it is more effective if you use it right away I dove right in last night. I followed the directions on the bottle and used half undiluted as a foliar spray for my Hoyas (kinda like stinky VF-11) and the remaining half I diluted (for more coverage) and watered my Gesneriads and other sundries with it.

So, aside from a noxiously smelling apartment, should I expect any horrible side effects? Hoyas aren't allergic to compost tea are they? Has anyone here tried this stuff?

Haha. I just got home and I was looking at my plants and I was like: what are these speckles all over my Hoyas? It's compost tea residue! Yep, my Hoyas are all dirty now. LOL They'd better grow like heck!

wish i got cool stuff like compost tea for my birfday *pouts and kicks rocks*

that stuff is filled with great nutrients!!! best of luck and definitely let us know how it goes.

Happy Birthday GG!! I'm only a couple of days late...but wanted to wish you a belated birthday wish!!

I hope your compost tea works for you. I know what you mean about the speckles all over your hoya leaves. I occasionally spray my Plants with "sea kelp" and it does the same thing,lol...so I have to rinse the leaves a few days later to get rid of the spots.

I had wondered about the compost tea as well because I have a worm compost bin and a regular compost who's contents really needs to be used for something. I had mostly been top dressing pots when they go outside for the summer but some compost tea sounds like a great idea. Well for the plants anyways. LOL

lollol I really am with my own kind around you guys.

Luckily the smell simmered down shortly afterward, so I think it's definitely not out of the question for regular use, even with indoor plants. ^_~

I'll keep my eyes open for brilliant results. I'm hoping I wake up tomorrow and my apartment is transformed like Where the Wild Things Are.

I think your hoyas will love it! & I also agree with jsainz---I think compost tea is a great bday present! Sorry to complain but I don't seem to get gardening gifts for my birthday, probably because it's in December (pouty face) and it's almost subzero by then! ah well, won't think about that now...
