I am interested in what kinds of information people want more of. What Hoya materials are you having trouble tracking down, or can never get enough of?
High quality photographs of flowers and foliage

Microscope images of flower parts

Collection and habitat information

Growing techniques

Super technical growing techniques

Chemical free strategies

Home remedy tricks

Supply ideas and sources

Relationships between different species

Propagation strategies

Pollination and cultivars

Publications and name disputes

Backgrounds/Stories of the "Who's Who" of Hoyas

Funny stories from the perspective of an average grower

Information on new species

Pests and disease

Information on ease/difficulty of species

Detailed descriptions of what makes each species unique

How to tell similar Hoyas apart

Advice on trading/importing

Something else?

Some days, to me, it feels like there is a lot of information out there, but it's in all in scattered scraps and fragments. I wondered, if there was one Hoya website out there, that had everything you needed... what would it look like? What posts would you like to see more of on here?

    Here's my wishlist.
    More pictures of growing setups.
    Plants displayed in home settings.
More pictures of the overall growing habit of the plant, not just a closeup of a leaf or flower, of course we need those too.

This is a great post. I would love to see more info for the beginner, I am finding infor gathering pretty durn tricky, since most stuff I find is really really technical, and I am a beginner in general, not just with hoyas.

    I am particularly interested in:
    Easy and inexpensive growing mediums
High quality photographs of flowers and foliage
    Growing techniques
    Chemical free strategies
    Home remedy tricks
    Supply ideas and sources
    Propagation strategies
    Pests and disease
    Information on ease/difficulty of species
Detailed descriptions of what makes each species unique
How to tell similar Hoyas apart--I still don't know what sort of carnosa's I have, I can only find info on KQ V. KP...
    Advice on trading/importing

    Hi GreedyGhost

I do find myself getting most of my info on Hoyas from clicking around site to site to site. I still don't feel like there is one site that I prefer or that is my go to.

I personally would love more detailed information on the growing habits and the preferred conditions of specific Hoyas, so that when I acquire a new one I can get a really good idea of its proclivities, and really geek out on it. Perhaps the info out there on is more general since we all live in specifically different climates and provide growing conditions that are so varied? I guess thats why that David Liddle list of where hoyas are found in the wild is useful since it is a control and you just try to match the conditions the best you can- anyway,

When I get a new Hoya I usually search its name on here and see what everyone says, It's the best resource I've found for more detailed info, but it's sort of a clunky apparatus, it would be amazing to have that type of in depth info and experience collected, boiled down and in one place.

I would really like to learn more about the steps needed to acquire plants from overseas too. I am clueless about how to obtain the required paper work, or even if this is the the job of the nursery or the "importer"-me. And how this applies to ebay sellers from other countries. Also who are trusted purveyors that I should support and who should perhaps be avoided.

I am also very interested in the background stories of the Big names in Hoyas, And would love to see more pictures of their collections. As well as the less big names and their collections.

Re-reading your list above, I would appreciate more info on all you have listed! Are you thinking of making a web site? I have enjoyed all your funny and informative postings on here, I think it would be amazing if you made a site for Hoya people!

I think we have great sites about hoyas. But never found all the information I was looking for in only one site, so we have to visit many web pages to find all we need! Growing tips at different climates is something I miss!

Thank you for the kind compliment, Hannah. :) I do have a blog, but lately I have taken a break from it while I try to figure out a useful direction for it to take. I do not have the experience of many of the veteran growers here, but I am a natural researcher and compiler of information. I thought maybe it would be helpful to share the fruits of my labor.

There is no need to repeat information that is already out there in surplus, so I wanted to focus my efforts on on underrepresented areas. So, I thought I'd ask around and see what others saw as missing.

Of course, my small efforts aren't going to amount to a "one stop shopping" Hoya website, so I also thought maybe this thread would inspire others in their own Hoya blogs and sites. :) After all, the strongest conclusions are formed from multiple data sets.

Thank you all for your responses. I find them very useful, and it is interesting to hear more about your personal focuses.
