Hi everyone,

I finally got time to sit a spell and catch up on the hoya world. . . I have been busy building a huge deck and it has consumed all of my time. . .

The roof finally went on Sunday and I'd like to set a few hoyas outside. My question is. . . do I need to do it gradually as not to burn the leaves? The light it gets is the morning sun and it's the very early sun. The direct sun only lasts for about an hour before it turns to shade. . .

Welcome back Maid...we have missed you! Enjoy your new and I'm sure beautiful deck. Think of all the hoyas you can place there to make it even more beautiful.Have fun on your new deck.

Early morning sun and late evening is of course the best and least intense, But since its only an hour, I would try 15 minutes for a couple of days...then bump it up to half an hour and by weeks end one hour of early morning sun should be fine. Any more than that you will have to keep a close eye on. Better safe than sorry right?

I'd say as far north as you are, an hour of early a.m. sun will be fine. About 10 days ago, put about half a dozen Hoyas I plan to sell out on my back deck and they're getting some morning sun and some evening sun and some are only showing a little "kiss" of red, no sunburning.
