Received my David Liddle cuttings yesterday and couldn't be more thrilled! The cuttings are FAR bigger than I expected!

Anyone else get theirs?

Got mine yesterday, too. One was pretty dehydrated, but all the others look pretty darn good. Nice and big, too. Can't wait to see what % of success I have in rooting them. I've heard such good things about David's cuttings, so I'm confident I'll have good luck!

I too got my first DL order this spring. I was able to make 5 cuttings from one of his, and 4 cuttings for the other. Made a nice full pot of cuttings! Hope they all take for you.

ps. What did you go for? Gives me ideas to see what more experienced people are interested in :)

Kelly in Victoria,
I purchased two kinds of acuta- variegata and one with pink flowers, erythrina, caudata 1556 (HUGE leaves), lambii, griffithii, aldrichii, mac 0017, and scortechinii! All looked good!

Denise,
What did you get?

Kelly you are going to love your Hoya lambii, one of my absolute favorites. My lambii is blooming right now and it is awesome. The flowers smell like Brassavola orchid blooms, kinda spicy/sweet musk. I will take some photos as soon as the buds are all open.

What do you think of your Hoya griffithii, that was one I was interested in but did not end up getting.

Mike,
I've heard that H. lambii flowers last for only 24 hours. Have you found that to be true? Don't wait too long to take those photos! (:o)
Thanks,

Mike,

Just by chance I bought my first Brassavola the other week! Can't wait to see it in boom as well!

Griffithii's leaves weren't as remarkable as I expected, but I just LOVE the picture of the flowers I've seen!

Please do take pics of your lambii blooms!

I got my cuttings about the same day as every one else, maybe a day or so later and all but one are ALREADY rooting like crazy!!! I had such long roots on three that I had to plant them already and I have to go out and buy more pots for the rest! I think I ordered a dozzen and the only one without roots is the "wee bella" (forget what he calls it) How is everyone elses doing?

Kelly,

Could you please post a picture of your hoya griffithii that you recently received from David Liddle for us to see???? A group of us who ordered twice this year received our cuttings yesterday. I had a single cutting in my bag (as I did on the last order) with no tag.. I'mpretty sure it is griffithii but would love to see a picture of yours for comparison. I emailed D.L about it but have not hear from him yet.

thanks
D

Mine is still not rooted and continues to look dehydrated....any suggestions? Should I take it out and soak it?

Thanks Kelly,, that looks very much like what I have. I can't post a pic because I have no idea how to post a picture on this site.

David,

If you use Flickr or Photobucket just copy and past the html from there. I always select the medium size.

Any thoughts on what else I should do to get mine to root?

RE: David Liddle Cuttings US order

What do you currently have it rooting in???? Mine is in perlite. I normally root my cuttings right in the potting mix that i grow my hoyas in. Just thought i'd try something different this time. I've used perlite so far for all of my new (70+) hoya cuttings this year and have had a pretty good success rate, loosing only about 6 so far. The griffithii had bumps on it already so i feel pretty confident that it will root. I bought the clone of griffithii from Botanova that has golden yellow flowers and it rooted within days. I started it in potting mix in a Solo cup and within days i could see roots on top of the soil, that's how easily and quickly that clone rooted.

Kelly,

A few of mine were so dehydrated and aren't looking improved. One has bit the dust, I'm pretty sure - dennisii (which I wanted 'cuz it almost sounds like my name... silly!) Hellwigiana, one I had before that I loved and lost, isn't going to make it either, I don't think. (DRAT!) Three of the nine have rooted, the other 4 are questionable. Unless the other 4 ALL root, I probably won't do it again next year. Ninety bucks for 9 cuttings isn't cheap, but it's a bargain for rare ones if they root. If you lose half, though, that makes them too expensive for me!

I have griffithii in hydroton and perlite. Decided to pull it tonight and resoak it...I think I'm seeing a little improvement in the leaves.

Did loose lambii from this order....The other 7 have rooted, no new growth yet, but good roots!

Denise, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for you! I would definitely consider ordering again! My biggest consideration next time will be one of space!

I need to look up helliwigiana...don't think I'm familiar with that one!
