Heirloom Hoya- What kind of pot to use?

alaval

Hello.

I just inherited a piece of my great-grandmother's Hoya as a heirloom plant. The pressure is on.

I've been reading about different pots and potting soils, but I value other grower's opinions.

Would a plastic pot with a mix of perlite and tropical soil be best? Or because I am in a harsh, dry climate (20 C is HOT for us) should I use Orchid bark to keep some moisture? I do have a SW facing picture window, with about 14 hours of actual sun in the summer, and maybe, if I'm generous, 8 hours in the winter.

It has a lot of good, long roots....will I need a deep pot, or will I be able to get them into a smaller one?

It's in a Mason jar with water right now, and starting to wilt, I hope to get this done today.

Thank you for any advice.

Amber.
