Could a variegated hoya compacta die in low light?

I just got my second hoya, a compacta regalis. (so cool!) I recently moved to a place where my only window is North-facing and kind of shaded by trees. It's not REALLY dark.. but I wouldn't call it bright.

I put my KQ outside where it gets more light, but I would like a hoya in my room, and also I don't want this thing's leaves to get all full of outdoor critters because it would be harder getting them off than it will be with the KQ when I bring it back inside.

I put it near the window. Will it be okay? I read that it won't grow very fast in low light, but it can still live, right? How will I know if it's dying from not enough light?

I think you're worrying unnecessarily. The compacta should be fine inside. At this time of the year, it will grow faster outside in indirect light but it certainly will not die inside next to a window.

Okay thanks, lol. I am still new to this, so I'm trying to be careful because it seems like with plants you can sometimes walk right into a mistake without seeing it coming.

I agree. It will be fine. Totally understand your logic about not wanting to put such a sneaky little devil outside. You might want to check out the other thread about Hoyas people have been bringing to bloom in North facing windows.
