2 New Hoyas, .Did I Buy A Dud, or A Stud?

Hi. I just won on EBay, a 'starter plant' of a hoya called. "H. Archboldia Var. Archboldiana". I saw its bloom that is a huge cup, a light pink with deeper red/pink veining on the bloom.

It is young, but if I have as much luck as I have with my other monster 'Hoya Macillvrayii', (I know I spelled it wrong,sorry). Then i should have little time to wait to see if it blooms true. But,is this one a 'stud or a dud' in the fellow hoya growers opinions?

The other one I am MIGHT buy, is going back to the 'Pubicalyx' variates..., the easy and fast growing ones, this one is called 'Hoya P.Gray Lady'...it is a nice looking small plant,and has some silver streaks on the leaves, that I can see, but there is no description of the bloom, I have sent a message to the seller to ask IF they know what the bloom looks like. MY question is, should I try to buy it? Is it worth it? Or am I buying another 'Pink Splash',or 'Silver Splash', you know what I mean. One I basically already have, but someone just stuck this name 'Gray Lady' on it to sell it.

Or is it a hybrid that someone has seen and is worth buying? It is cheap right now, but what is it worth paying to get? I paid A LOT for the other Hoya, but it has the HUGE flowers on it, and I know they cost a lot,and are worth it when they bloom. But this one is totally unknown to me, so I figured I would ask, before I bid high and go broke on a 'common' hoya. Anyone have some input about either?

Your Hoya archbildiana is a winner for sure and if you look at Sue's recent post you will see why.
Personally if you already have a couple Hoya pubicalyx varieties you may as well pass on the one you mentioned. I don't think there is a variety with the name you mentioned but then again there is no hybrid registry or clonal name registry when it comes to Hoyas either. If the leaves are particularly heavily coloured with silver/grey it may be worth it but don't expect a significantly different flower, pink to purple would be my guess.

Hi. Who is Sue and what post are you talking about? I see the pictures of the flowers a Sue posted a while ago,of the H.Macgillvrayii flowers...but this Archbildiana is suppose to be cup shaped and a light pink with red/pink ribs on it,and the ends of the petals curled back.

That 'Gray Lady' one I looked it up online and it is just another name for the same 'Silver Pink,or Pink Silver',or one of the 10 names of the same hoya, all the same plant, same flower.

My H. Pottsii came today,2 decent sized plants starting to put out vines,and the H.Pubicalyx 'Philippine Black Chimrea' came to. Longer thinner leaves than my other 'Silver Pink' one,and the stems are blackish,lots of sliver streaks on it, so maybe it will give me darker blooms or redder blooms than my Silver Pink'. Hope so.

Well my Archboldiana is covered in mealy bugs...and hasnt grown a leaf yet since I got it in June. I have drenched it with a 'safe' pest control houseplant spray that usually kills them on everyother plant they ever turn up on, along with aphids, or any other small pest. But this sucker wont grow....any hints on getting it to grow...and to kill these damn mealys?
