Window shopping (sigh)

Ok. I've spent far too much time looking at this catalog, dreaming and making wish lists.

The webmaster said he built the site to help people who love Hoyas. He speaks English as a second language, so point your mouse, not mouth, over the species name to see a picture. Let me know what you think. (I think its great for us newbies and for those who have been collecting awhile.)

Hi Ima,
Sorry to say this, but the minute you wrote "mywestpalm.net" alarm bells started ringing. I had a recollection that he'd (the owner of the site) emailed one of the Yahoo hoya groups I'm a member of. The moderator of that group had him thrown off for being a scam artist. Most of the plants on there, apparently, are mislabelled and the photos have been stolen from other web sites, and are relatively expensive.

Sorry about that, but forewarned is forearmed! Hills

I don't know anything about this person, and the catalog is tempting, but he says himself that he self-id'd his plants and then used pictures from elsewhere for the site - which could mean (and probably does mean) that some of the plants could be mislabeled, he has never seen them bloom himself. I have a few eriostemmas that I have never been able to ID because they have not bloomed - I would love to know how he managed to id so many!

Also, where is he located? If he is outside of the country, even just in Canada, you could be waiting a long time for cuttings to arrive and that can be a problem.

Put that together with the above post, sounds like something you should stay away from! There are plenty other reliable sellers out there with decent prices.

PS - I have someone I can refer you to for healthy and beautiful plants and cuttings, my email is on my profile page

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. He is in SE Florida. Ines, you'll have mail in a little while. :) (Probably in your spam folder again.)

It was still fun window shopping...

I sure enjoyed looking at his photos! I don't buy from anyone I haven't heard is reputable (and even then, it doesn't ALWAYS turn out well...) so it was just a look-see for me. But it's a nice site, I must admit..
