Are you saying you set up a grow room in your basement with a lighting setup? If so, no, I wouldn't add a humidifier. Too much humidity (IMO) is far worse than not enough, and basements tend to be a little damp and cooler than the rest of the house. Add to that the fact that plants grown on shelves in close proximity create their own little environment, including humidity through transpiration - you really don't need added humidity. In fact, in my experience, a humidifier usually creates problems with molds and mildew. Of course, if you're in one of those super-dry climates, like Phoenix or Texas, some added humidity might be a good thing. Here...not so much!

Hi, you will need some sort of fan.I use 4 computer fans that I got for super cheap.My husband wired them all together and I have them going around my plants.If you are not able to do the electric stuff I think you can buy kits or just use a reg fan.In my case people in my home did not want to hear or feel the fans.

stevenwayne--a basement greenhouse sounds great. Are there windows, or do you rely totally on artificial lighting? There are good T5 lights offered at this site: http://www.htgsupply.com/Category-Grow-Lights.asp
Or you can sometimes find a hydroponics store in your area, but they are expensive there.
cpawl---LOL...isn't it funny how the people in our lives just don't understand our hoya obsession. People in my life think I am a little nuts with all my plants. They always say things like, "Why do you want all those plants," etc. And heaven forbid I start adding lights and fans to the jungle. Then they really look at me stange. Ha.

I agree with Cindy you need a fan as still air breeds disease.

I have a fan I don't just grow hoyas I also grow plumeria I have about 70 plants as well as 20 or so hoyas I just keep adding more plants haha I have just about have them all in. It's a process moving all. These plants and I have a small collection. It's like 80 degrees down there
