| Hi Jan, Nice to meet you. I think this is a great idea. I saw someone else proposed it awhile back (on a different forum) and it didn't get a lot of attention. I need to go thru my pics and find one that will work, I don't take very good pics. Hope this gets some attention, thanks. Maid |
| It's nice to put a face to the people we talk to here on the forum, thanks Jan for starting this thread and sharing your photo. I had thought of this in the past, had happened on other forums before and it was fun. Come on everyone don't be shy. A recent photo, looking a little too serious but the others did not turn out well. I just had to get a photo of my Brassavola nodosa while it was showing off. Mike |
| Maid, I am sure you'll find a nice photo. Hello Mike, so nice to meet you & your Brassavola nodosa. |
| Too bad I don't have a camera or I would post my picture on here as well. It's good to finally match the names with the faces! Looking forward to seeing you all here! Brad AKA Moonwolf |

I'm the photo-taker so it's hard to come by one of me, but a couple years ago, I got my hubby to take a pic of in my GH with one of my big ol' Crown of Thorns... Glad to put a face to all my Hoya buds! Denise in Omaha |

| Oh WOW golden!! I've always found fish fascinating, but what really gets me goin' is the creatures in the deepest darkest depths of the ocean. No one still really knows everything that's down there. And all those myths with sea creatures and Megladon(sp?). It's curiously intruiging. One of my fav fish though is the Viperfish! ...Somehow I feel like I can't spell tonight... |

| Golden, Very cool! Are they in salt water? Love the pattern on their sides! The face looks much like a catfish. Jan, Mike, so glad you included the Brassavola! I by chance picked one up this summer. Mine has yet to bloom though! Is the art work behind you yours? Very nice! Cindy- I hope more will post pics! |
| Hi Kelly Yes her name is monkey and I love her to bits. She is only one year old. I got her after my other cat died.We have 3 cats but she is mine. I love all animals and was very happy to visit Taman safari in indonesia. Its a type were you drive through most of it with the animals roaming around, they come to your car window and you feed them carrots. Then there is small area were you get out of your car to get up close with some of the animals. It was a fun day out but very tiring.I have tone of photos but this a hoya forum. Cindy |
| Good to see all of your faces! I think we've done this awhile back, but it's always good to get an update on who we're talking to. Great pics everyone! Here is my favorite person and I - my dog Sawyer: Sawyer is an amazing dog. She is paralyzed, but continues to run around in her wheelchair and is also a ceritified pet therapy dog and brings smiles to people in nursing homes and children's hospitals :) Sawyer and I doing our rounds at a nursing home: And that's my other love (besides hoyas!)... | So its a little off topic - but thats ok - cause its great to actually meet everyone the best way we can! :0) Its great to learn about all our hoya friends. I think Jan had a great idea! Its fantastic to see who we are chatting with and I cherish all the help and advise I have had from all of you girls/guys! And yeah your right Kelly does have a GREAT smile! You ALL look pretty darn GREAT to me! Genuinely nice people! Cheers! (And Kelly - Sturgeon can go back and forth - to fresh or salt water. Pretty durable all around) Bunnygurl - my favorite fish is Dory - lol. In finding Nemo - :0) |

| Gabi - Nice to meet you as well! Great thing you and Sawyer are doing! I bet the faces light up when you and Sawyer arrive at the nursing homes!,,,Debbie |
| Cindy I can't believe you have a live leopard on your lap! Nice kitty.........take the photo already! LOL Golden that is an amazing fish, do you fish for them in the Fraser river or are they common in most large estuarine rivers? Kelly you will love your Brassavola. I have four different Brassavola species and I absolutely love them, their night time fragrances are strong and can fill a room. It's great to see everyone's photos. Mike |
| Hello, everyone. It's wonderful to be able to meet you all. Gabi, I just showed photo of you and your dog to hubby. Love Sawyer much. And here's a photo of me with one of my dogs, Biam. Like everyone else, I'm normally the one behind the camera, so it's hard for me to find a photo of mine :-o(.
Thanks Jan for the great idea. Xuan |
| Hehe. Golden, I love Dori too! I actually made a Dori out of wood when I was in grade 11. I'd show you a pic, but my mother has it. I got 100% on it. I love seeing everyone and their animals; the love and joy in their eyes. It gives me the warm and fuzzies inside. I have a dog, a cat and 6 rabbits and they're all my furry little children and I'd do anything for them. Thanks everyone for sharing all the wonderful pictures! |
| Good morning! I am really enjoying seeing/meeting all of you. My DH & I are headed to the South Beach tomorrow for our 10 year anniversary, just a quick get away. We love traveling. Here is a photo of my DH & I at the Paradise Island on our 7th anniversary. My DH is not so enthusiastic about the hoyas or plants so I am always happy to share with my hoya buds. Denise, great big smile with plant in your arm. Golden, what an awesome experience that would be to hold something so majestic. Gabi, I love your dog Sawyer and what you are doing. Brought tears to my eyes. Amazing!!! Xuan, beautiful view for you & Biam. |
| Hi everyone! This is the best I can do, like others I am the one behind the camera generally, and the photos I have taken of myself are more artsy (for lack of a better term) and don't really look like me on a regular basis. My hair's shorter now and I wear glasses most of the time, but this otherwise still looks like me: |
| Gabi, it always amazes me how animals adapt... How did Sawyer lose the use of his back legs? When I was a kid on the farm, we had a cat who somehow injured her back and lost the use of her back legs. My dad wasn't the type who would put an animal down unless all hope was gone, and this cat just went about her business, dragging her useless back legs behind her as if it was just a mild challenge. It wasn't terribly long before she was up on her back legs, at first very wobbly with a lot of falling. But eventually, she walked, though she always had a weird gait after that! Well, Sawyer looks just as happy as can be, which is probably why he makes such a good therapy dog. Xuan, Biam is a cutey! And Jan's right - you have a beautiful view there! So serene... Golden, wow those are beautiful fish. I don't know much about fish and I've heard of sturgeon's, but I've never seen one. I had to go to Wikipedia to read about them and read that their eggs are harvested for caviar, and because of that, some species are considered endangered or at least threatened. I'm glad to hear you "catch & release." Denise in Omaha |
- Posted by golden_ca_2000 BC Canada (My Page) on Wed, Oct 7, 09 at 11:07
| Denise Yes they are endangered - or at least they were (there seems to be an aweful lot of them now) But that is why they have them on a catch and release basis ONLY - because they were almost fished to extinction ! (I wouldnt want to kill them anyways - So far we have caught over 200 sturgeon - just this year. We scan them for a chip (which has a number) and if they do not have this chip - we insert one. And we mark down the length and girth and if the fish has any deformities etc.. The society that we are volunteering for, is head by Rick Hansen. (He loves sturgeon fishing)(Im sure you guys know who Rick Hansen is) And yes caviar is from sturgeon. I made an error earlier when I said they live for 60 years - they can live for up to 150 years. Mike - yes we fish for them on the Fraser river and they are in alot of lakes and estuarine rivers. If you pull in a couple of 7 footers in one day - you sleep really well that night - lol. And right now, is high season for sturgeon - they are feeding on lots of salmon in the river and they are getting FAT! Jan - what a lovely place you live in there! I've been there 24 years ago - on my wedding anniversary - went to disney world! Beautiful Place! Thanks to you all for sharing your photos - great to see everyone from all over the world :0) |
| Queen, so nice to meet you. Golden, I forgot to mention the Paradise Island is in Bahamas, we were on a cruise we went to visit this place because so beautiful there. You can walk under a glass tunner, you can see the sharks, all different kind of fish and you can sit and see under water view in the dining room. Simply outrageous!!! |

| Gabi, I too had tears in my eyes when I seen Sawyer. We have two labs, Dee Dee our black lab and Sammy our yellow lab. Dee Dee turned 12 in July and they say any moment past 12 is a blessing regarding labs, so I find myself waiting for her death, though she is doing quite well for her age. Very, very sad. I also have 8 cats. No typo there, 8 CATS!!! I am a huge animal lover, watch Animal Planet all the time and cry through Animal Cops. My husband asks me why I watch it if it hurts me so much and I say through sobs "because sometimes there is a happy ending". Seems like the love of plants and animals go hand in hand!!! Tish |
- Posted by kellyknits 6/WV Eastern Panhand (My Page) on Wed, Oct 7, 09 at 12:26
| Tish, Had to laugh! Totally understand - I have 2 senior dogs, 5 cats, PLUS a feral cat living in my spare bedroom. I'm not including him in the total until he lets me handle him! Trapped him at a local McD's after noticing he had open sores on him (just flea dermatitis thankfully). He's come a long way - loves to play now, has actually slept on top of me, but he's still scared of being touched! NO MORE KITTIES! That Sawyer is an amazing girl! And Max is the biggest poser! Nancy, I hope you've sent his picture in for contests or to be in the breed calendars- he's something else! Kelly |
| Awww, thanks for all your kind words! And I love all the furbabies on here too. Pug, what a cute pic of Max - I've seen him before, but I love him with the flowers. Mike, I was gonna ask about that painting too. Your bf is VERY talented! Denise, you are absolutely right. Animals can adapt to anything. They are so resilient! About 5 years ago, she developed a benign tumor on her spine. A neurological vet removed it and then she went for 3 weeks of daily radiation therapy - she handled it so well. Anyway, she was back to running and being her normal self for about 4 years. One year ago, she started to show back leg weakness again - an MRI showed that scar tissue had developed due to the surgery and/or RT. There was nothing that could be done because of the radiation damage. So we knew that she would become paralyzed (regardless, I tried everything - even chiropractic and a holistic vet...it helped, but not for long). She lost total function of her rear legs in February, and that's when we got the wheelchair. She adapted within 2 days! I'll post a link to a video of her running back and forth between me and her other mommy - you can see she likes her other mommy better (even though I raised her from 2 months of age!!). I think Sam (my gf) uses biscuits to win her love! So glad your dad is the same "breed" as me - it's nice to know that there are people out there that would do all that is possible for their pets. And believe me, they know what we do for them. I won't give up unless she is suffering. It is difficult (like having to express her bladder and she is also bowel incontinent), but so worth it. And yes, she makes a great therapy dog :) And again, thanks to everyone who said those heartfelt words about what Sawyer and I - althought it's really Sawyer who does most of the work :) Nice "meeting" you all, |

| Kelly, that's what my husband said "no more kittens", though he loves them dearly. My brother also said "there is such a thing as too many cats"--from the mouth of someone who has 7 of them himself. Cindy, I'm sooooo jealous!!! What a dream to have petted a big cat, much less have one sitting on your lap. Lucky girl!!! It is so nice to see everyone! You all have been such help in my "Hoya Journey", teeheehee and I thank you all so much!!! And by the way Denise and quinnfyre, my Kentiana has taken root!!! I have two new leave buds! The two of you gave me hope and told me what to do with my unrooted cuttings from GHW two months ago. Even the yellow leaves have turned green, which I thought for sure those were gonners!!! Ya'll are the best!!! |

| Hey everyone! I am so glad I finally got to see some pictures of some of you! Maybe someday when if I ever get a camera, I'll post pictures as well. I'm an animal lover too. I don't have any pets of my own but mom keeps a tropical fish tank in the living room. Hobbies: Reading, collecting record albums, needlecrafts (mostly crochet) and gardening (of course!) Fav. singer: Tough choice, but I have to say Dottie West. Well, we all know a little more about each other now. I'm glad Jan started this thread! Happy howls to all of you and may God bless. | Hi everyone, Thanks Jan for starting this thread. It's been fun seeing everyone's pics. This is my *family* My kids are now adults, so this is what I take care of now. Hubby is holding Rossie, my rottie (Lucy) and Sister is on my lap. This was a Christmas card a few years ago. We had just got back from the Packer/Cowboys game in Dallas (I'm the Packers fan). Lucy has a much blockier head than it looks like. I think she's a little embarrassed to be wearing her horns :). And this is the three of them the Christmas before. Hey, when the kids are all gone, you gotta be creative w/holiday cards. . . right. |
| Maid, what a cute *family*!!! That second picture is just too cute. Gabi |

| Jan, that is such a sweet picture of Max. A few years ago I had a professional portrait done of our pugs for DH birthday. If that wasn't a fiasco, Pugs don't listen, specially when they get all *happy*. Gabi, your dog and story is amazing. I had to stop watching the video, not that it's sad, just that it is so incredible, I will never take my dogs for granted again. My Lucy ruptured her ACL, had surgery, and 2 years later, due to botched surgery, had another operation on the same knee. She whines a little now when she over does it, but she recovered pretty good. From now on when she whines I'm gonna tell her to toughen up. . . lol. Golden, what great pictures. Looks like you're enjoying every minute of it too. (You look a lot like a friend of mine, that's a good thing btw). Mike, nice to meet you, awesome plant, love those flowers. You look like you'd be *book smart* like you are, no surprise there. .. lol Debbie, nice to meet you, sweet lil lady you have there. How's hubby? Denise, you grow amazing plants, that one is huge. Good growing. To everyone else, thanks for sharing. I was bored @ 5:00 am, so I read thru some old posts, it's kind wierd now, knowing what everyone looks like. Thanks again, |

| Opps, sorry Jan. I meant that for Nancy (Pugluvr). . . my bad. Maid |
| Thanks for the kind compliments on Max everybody!! I will pass it on... Maid, all your dogs are adorable, of course I'm a little partial to Pugs(yours are just so cute)... I agree, what a cute family picture...Thanks for posting |
| Pug - Max sits so still for pictures! Debi both your Pugs have their heads cocked,,,did you ask them if they were hungry? My Otis cocks his head if asked if he is hungry is why I asked you. haha. Pugs of course always think they are hungry. Xuan nice to put a face to your posts! Your view is so tranquil and nice for your Hoya's to grow in! Brad thanks for sharing a part of your life with us. Hopefully a picture will be able to come in the future. Quinn nice to meet you! Jan have a wonderful anniversary holiday trip! Relax and enjoy!,,,,Debbie |
| Sorry, it took me so long! I've been out all day. :) Here's me . . . crocheting (one of my fave pastimes). And with Nonie, my Cinnamon Indian Ringneck (One of seven pet parrots) Carolyn |
| Xuan your view of the countryside is just beautiful. It's nice to see a photo of you and your dog. Maid your right I read about everything and anything I want to know about. I am almost impervious to terribly dry reading, never can convince anyone I know to read anything I find interesting. Carolyn your parrot of gorgeous, strange thing though, no Hoyas hanging in those windows. :) Mike |
| Hi Carolyn! Nice to meet you and Nonie! I really need to try and catch a few of my munchkins unaware and post. I have 6 dogs and 5 cats. My gang on a Christmas card would look like 19 Kids and Counting poster. haha. |

| Carolyn, so nice to meet you. . . You parrot IS beautiful! I'm with Mike, why no hoyas in the windows? Speaking of hoyas, have you gotten the ones from Hawaii yet? Xuan, I browsed thru your album, what a beautiful floral/plant display. Simply out of this world. Thanks for sharing. Debbie, 'hungry' is one of many reasons they cock their heads. They are so expressive, those lil guys. I think if my DH brought a snake into my house, he'd have a nice spot in the basement with his new roommate. I wonder where Toni is, I want to meet her. Thanks for sharing everyone. . . Miad~ |
| Hi Xuan, nice to "see" you finally...Great picture! Hello Quinn and Carolyn!! Carolyn, Love your parrot...many years ago I used to raise a few parrots, Eclectus, Pionus, African Greys, Cockatiels...got a little too much and very noisy, lol. It was a lot of work but I love birds! Now its just my hoyas...my new ADDICTION! Debbie, Max LOVES his pictures taken...he is my model for a lot of photos. As long as I give him a treat after, he's good to go,lol... Yes Debi, we have to get Toni's picture...I haven't seen her posting in a while. I'd love to meet her also. Great pics everyone! |
| Pug - Otis was a very bad boy this morning! We have rain today and Otis found a mud puddle to river dance in! Grrr! Nothing like just waking up and bathing a dog before your first cup of coffee! hahaha. |
| Debbie, LOL...you should have videotaped it and sent to America's Funniest Videos!! That would have been a sight to see :o) You gotta love them!! |
| Okay, okay, everyone! Both these pics were taken BEFORE the hoyas. The bird pic is from March . . .I started the hoya craze in May! hahaha Maid, YES!!! They came, today! I'll get pics taken as soon as I can (hopefully, tomorrow). I've repotted them, already, so we'll see how they do. I ended up with H. AH0240, H. callistophylla, H. sipitanguensis, and H. cv Optimistic (eriostemma). We'll see how it goes! Carolyn |
- Posted by maidinmontana 5 (debirosin@bresnan.net) on Fri, Oct 9, 09 at 8:31
| Oh I bet you're excited, Carolyn. Can't wait to see the pics. The H. AH0240 is such a pretty hoya, I love the *huge* veiny leaves. I have a small H. callistophylla from Gardinos. I like the leaves, but from what I've read/heard, it's a slow grower. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Maid~ |
| OK, I got my dd to take my picture this afternoon. I don't have my picture taken very often. I don't like it done, but everyone else is doing so... |

| Welcome Dee, Nice background setting there, and that was taken today. . . ? Had it been here, there would have been an all white backdrop. . . snow means sking, but it also means 6 months before we can get any hoya shipments. . . thanks for sharing. . . Maid~ |
| Hi Dee, Nice to see you...love all your plants in the background. |
| Hi Dee, You have beautiful plants! Good to see you! Brad AKA Moonwolf |
| Hi Dee! Love the backdrop for your picture! The color on the Brug. is wonderful! By chance were you at the Orchid show in Miami this past April? I went with a friend from TX. You look so familiar to me. Keep the pictures coming folks! This is a great thread!,,,,Debbie |
| Maid, what a cute family photos. Nice to see you all. Carolyn, nice to meet you. Your bird is so cute. Hi Dee, nice to meet you. You have nice plants in the back ground. I just got back from South Beach, it was hot & humid but we had a great time swimming, dining, window shopping. It was a nice quick get away. Jan |
| Hello again, everyone. It's very very nice to "see" you all. I have saved all your photos in a folder. From now on, I know who I'm talking to. Nancy (Pug)... It IS nice to meet you, too. Love all the mangoes there. Here's a photo of my mango tree a few years back. Xuan |
| Hi Maid, yes that was taken yesterday afternoon. It got up to 89 and nearly 100% humidity. Very suffocating when it is like that. It is already very humid this morning, supposed to get afternoon storms, don't mind the storms as long as there is no lightening. Debbie, no I didn't go to the show. I have been to Miami once several years ago and they have LOTS of nursery's there and would love to go again. Even though I live in FL it is a 10 - 12 hour drive depending on which way you go. If case you don't know my favorite color is PINK. DH thinks I take it to the extreme sometimes but oh well. The pink flowers you see by me are brugmansia, several of my pink ones are blooming all at once and boy is the smell strong. Nice to see everyone. Dee |
| Xuan, thanks for posting that beautiful Mango tree...I LOVE mangoes just as much as I love hoyas, lol! I can eat them everyday!! I meant to sign my name when I posted my Picture...this is a GREAT thread! Jan, I meant to wish you a Happy 10th anniversary! Glad you had fun in South Beach! Nancy aka (Pug) |
| Xuan, those mangos looks good enough to eat. I love mangos too, I have started from a seed 11 years ago. I had about 12 mangos this year but I am going to give some fertilizer this month & in April, maybe I'll get some more. It took a long time to bear fruit from a seed, had I known I would rather bought grafted one. Nancy, thank you! |
| Nancy, Jan... in the sub-tropics like VN, eating too much mango might cause... pimples on your face! Hihihi... Our daughters never dared to eat but one piece of mango each season. Jan, although it might take longer for the tree to bear fruits if grown from seeds but, on the otherhand, the tree will remain productive longer, too. So it pays. I think a dose of fertilizer will help. Nancy, I had a chance to taste Florida mangoes when I visited the US for the first time in 2001. They were really sweet but the "smell" was not the same as that from VN mango. Wish I could share with you some of our mangoes. We have 4 trees and each year we have about 200 fruits. Yummy! Xuan |
| Hi everyone Nice to 'meet' everybody. I just come back from a long voyage. I missed my dog so much when I read about Gabi 's dog. My Bobby, 15 years old just passed away in June. My cat, Minou, also the same age, she is under treatment for thyroid now. Love to see you all. sue |
| Xuan, good to know about mango production. Sue, I was wondering where you were. Snow storm in NC? Bobby & Minou are so cute! Jan |
| Yes, Jan. Snow storm in NC 2008, the snow smelted away in 3 days. I loved it, we came from Montreal, Can. So this storm is nothing for us, we so enjoyed it. In NC, I just don't want Ice storm, very scary, because we have hills and trees a lot. A few years back, my greenhouse was destroyed by the ice storm. On the street is very dangerous. Luckily, my persimmon tree is not die, so last year,I got 300 fruits from 1 tree. I love mango too, but in NC, we can not grow tropical fruit. Xuan, you got it all. Can't wait to back home.
| Hello Sue! Nice to put a face with your posts! Your dog and kitty have such sweet faces! Sorry for the loss of Bobby. Our pets become like children to us and the loss leaves a huge emptiness. Your persimmons are huge! We just cut down our persimmon tree this summer. Too messy to walk in the yard when they ripened and the dogs ate the dropped fruits. We put in a new flowerbed where the tree once stood.,,,,,Debbie |
| Sue, I just love that picture of you and Bobby walking in the snow. It's beautiful. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can tell he was so special to you. I wish your cat much luck with her treatment. Gabi |

| Now that I finally have this picture thing figured out, I can post a pic here of myself!!! That's me on the left in the blue T-shirt. I live about 5 minutes North of Brook Green gardens and recently we spent the day there just strolling around and taking pictures. The lady in the pic is my BF's sister |
| Xuan, I wish you could share your mangoes with us too :o) Sue, nice to meet you...sorry for the loss of your dog. Great pictures of the snow storm and your dog and cat are adorable! Those persimmons looks really delicious. Hi David...nice to meet you also! Your hoya collection is amazing!! Looking forward to more pictures! |

| Sue, wow! yummy persimmons!! I love persimmons. Wishing your kitty the best. David, nice to meet you. |
| Me, too, Sue... I just love persimmons, the crispy kind like yours in the photo. When you come back for a visit here, would you be kind to bring me a seedling of persimmon to grow, please? I brought back some seeds from California but they never sprout! Wishing Minou the best in her treatment. Xuan |
| Sue that is a great photo of you and Bobby. The snow can be a pain in the butt at times but noting beats the beauty of a walk in the woods when the trees are covered in newly fallen snow. Nice to meet you David. I have really enjoyed looking at the photos you have posted of your Hoyas. Mike |
| Hi David! Nice to put a face to the posts and beautiful flower pictures! Keep up the great work! The cuttings I got from you are doing good and rooting up nicely.,,,,Debbie |

| We also have a Japanese persimmon tree, actually we have 2,both different varieties. One only produces about 2 dozen fruits per year on a small tree ,maybe 7ft and it's about 15 years old and the other is LOADED!!!The tree with the small fruit (tangerine size) probably has 1,500 fruits on it right now. It's about 14-15 years old also and to this date has never had this many persimmons on it. There is so much fruit on this tree that it has cracked the limbs. |
| Hi david What did you do with so much fruit? where do you live? I do a lot thing with persimmon, Asian people love it. Xuan, i will looking for the seedling for you. Dalat have that tree, I think? |

| Sue I share them with a lot of people, the birds eat many of them and may just rot. The one tree is loaded every year with more than we can use at one time. |
| Sue, they have the other kind of persimmons grown in Dalat, the "soft" one, you know. Just recently, I've seen this "crispy" kind in the market but I think they imported it from China (and most everything from China is not very healthy to eat!). Thank you very much in advance, Sue, for the seedling. Xuan |

| Hi David the first tree with cone fruit, can eat only when it soft like tomatoes. I have this cone persimmon, but it taste no good. I love the second tree, the fruit can eat when it hard. when I have a lot, I dry them and send to all friends. sue |

| Maybe I should try them dried. I didn't think of that.I love the taste of persimmons but i do not like the texture of them,it's something about the way they feel in your mouth!! So when I do eat them it is usually baked in either cookies or cake and since I found out in January that i'm diabetic,I don't eat much sweets anymore. I wasn't aware that you could eat the round fruit while it was still hard. I always thought they had to be soft. My grandmother loves the cone shaped fruit. |

| So awesome to put faces with names!!! Amazing to me how this little corner of GW has turned into a 'family'!!! (Debbie you look GREAT!) Since I've gained weight and cut my hair, I figured I should show a 'real' picture. The one I wanted of my and my 92 yo grandmother was sent to me from my moms camera and it is in B-A-D shape! So, here goes. DH took this one a year or so ago. Don't know where the lovely Gasteria and Me are... So. AMAZING PETS, AMAZING PET STORIES! Thank you for sharing a little corner of your life and so freely! |
| Wow! David, look at all those persimmons! I want some. YUM!!! I've planted a persimmon tree 12 years ago but it has never flowered so my DH is going to chop it down. Sorry to hear about your diabetic news. Cena, it's so nice to see you. It sure is nice getting to know all of you. |
| I love the "crunchy" Persimmons also...Jan, I will have to find someone that has a tree here, they are very good! Hi Cena, thanks for sharing your picture with us...it is very nice to finally meet you! I have enjoyed all the pictures that you've shared of all your hoyas/plants in your corner of the world. This thread really turned out to be a great one,Jan. I like what Cena said about us being a big "Hoya family". |
| Hey Cena! The new short doo looks great on you! Way easier to take care of isn't it? ;-) Nice to see you and your smile again! Been awhile hasn't it?,,,,Debbie |

| Nae great to meet you! I'm glad you joined in the fun of this thread! Maid - Cena had very long hair when I met her some 8-9 yrs. ago. Maid and Nae I have a confession,,,,I have been bitten by the African Violet bug! I refuse to admit how many I won in Ebay last week! haha. Most of what I bought were mini's, several standards ( 1 Russian)and several Streps. Keep the pictures coming folks!,,,Debbie |

| Hi Nae, nice to see ya. I've really really enjoyed seeing everyone. I can't take all the credit because I was thinking about doing this but hesitated for awhile but I've decided to do it when I saw this subject from David at another forum. I am so glad everyone shared part of their lives so freely , I feel like I've known you guys/gals for a long time. Love the friendship aka hoya family we have here at this hoya forum. ; ) Thank you all, Jan |
| Cena, love the 'do! I'm like Maid/Debi - I've worn my hair longish (shoulder-length) forever and I wish I had the giblets to cut mine short. My sister wears such a cute short style... OMG, you must have about pooped your pants when you saw all that long hair on the floor at the salon!!! Or did you do it in stages?? I wore mine short for about a year when I was in my early 20's - loved it, but my hubby wanted me to grow it back out. Men! (Sorry guys...) Dee, it looks like you live in a rural area - all the trees in the background. I would SO love not to have close neighbors. When I say close, I mean really close... east & west: about 15'. Ugh! It's nice to see my plant-buddies! No one "gets it" like this crowd! Denise in Omaha |
| Hi Nae, glad to meet you. I see you at the Cactus and Succulent forums also. I guess most of us have our favorite forums we frequent... :o) |

| Hey Denise, yes I am "rural" actually I am 30 miles from town. I live on 2 acres of land. Lots of room for all kinds of plants, just don't have much time yet. Will when I retire though. Know what you guys mean about the hair. I used to wear mine shorter than most guys, so easy to take care of, then I just started letting it grow, now it is waist length and when I think about cutting it I just think how long it took me to get there. Dee |
| Hi Jane and Ruby! Beautiful dog you have there Jane. Nice to meet you both!! I'm with Debbie, I love short hair for the mere convenience of it. I've tried over the years to grow it out...but my hair is thick and coarse, short hair is the best style for me. Plus it's so HOT here 9 months a year...Blow drying my hair goes a lot faster. Lucky for me DH prefers my short hair. I do envy you gals that have nice long hair...sometimes I miss it. I'm way too old to change now,lol...Dee, I probably wouldn't cut it off either if it took me that long to grow it out...it looks nice on you. |
| Hi Jane & Ruby, nice to meet you both. So is Jane on the left? |

| Hi puglvr, nice to meet you as well. Yea I do see you and read your posts on the other forum as well. I guess when people have so many varieties of plants, its kinda like a bee hoping from one flower to the other lol. Jan, nice to really see you too =) Xuan, pug and maid~ Love the doggie pics...lol nae boston |
| Jan1, NO, Jan is on the right, Ruby is the dog.I Think..lol sue |
| Ouf,sorry, I missed an 'e' on Jan (gadensnail22). |
| hmmmm,,,hard to tell but because of the hair color and the order of them in the picture I'm gonna guess GardenSnail22 is Ruby and Jane is the Mastiff dog. I'm happy both 'ladies' joined in the meet n greet thread! Nice to meet you both Ruby and Jane! I've seen your ID through the years on the different forums I think. Nice to put a face with the posts.,,,Debbie |

| Coupla times im my life, I've been able to sit on my hair. One of the times I said I was going to cut, DH said 'Whoa, Nelly!' I explained that he had No Idea what work long hair took, and he could have a say in the matter if he washed, combed out, and braided my hair for 7 days... (insert evil grin). We all know washing is a 'walk in the park'. Combing out takes training and patience and remembering to Start At The Ends! So, three days he did well with all of the requirements, but he begged off braiding. By day five he said 'Okay, I GET it. Do what you want...' I've had my hair long coupla times past that. I went to Colorado for four weeks and took care of my moms farm in mid-summer during the 112* days. I promised myself I would NEVER COMPLAIN about the weather again, and that I wouldn't handicap myself either. I donated 12 inches of hair to Locks of Love; they bound it near the length I was certain I wanted to go back to. They bound and cut, right there. Oooop, toooo late now! I've found good products for lift, and understand how my 32 cow licks work, and explain that style HAS to be cut in on my head. I part on the far right, my hair has a mind of its own, and I will Not Be Happy if you don't 'listen to the hair'!!! Great seeing & MEETING everyone! |
