Hindu Rope

Looking for some help taking a cutting from a healthy Hindu Rope.

Last I did it was in 2004 and I don't want to forget anything.

I remember I just cut a piece of and rooted it in water. After some decent roots were grown, I slowly added soil to the water every day until it was all soil. Then...I moved it to a pot. It was four inches long the. It's about two feet now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, if that worked for you last time, and it's already grown that much, I'd say do it that way again! This time of year, it may take a bit longer to develop roots - they always root faster in spring. But it should still be fine to do it now if you want.

Hi, I agree w/Denise, if it worked last time repeat the same.

I have a pot full of rooted cuttings. I want to keep it uniform so I cut them off when they get longer than the others. Then I just stick em back in the pot with the mamma. Thats how I started the mamma. I took a cutting from a friend and stuck it in a pot w/carnosa. That was back before I knew better.

Good luck. . .

Thank you both very much! My little plant is very special to me. It's the one surviving cutting (of two) from a monster plant my mom had before she passed away in 2004.

Thank you again :-)

I sorta know what you mean, ccj962. My Hindu Rope is special because it's a cutting from my grandmother's 20 year old "mamma" plant.

It's a slow grower, but it's thriving at the moment. :)

Best of luck to you both! I can only imagine how important those plants must be, I'm sure there's a lot of sentimental value with your heirloom plants. Hope they do well for you!
