Just to warm up a chilly day

It's nothing much, but my pubicalyx opens its blooms this morning, just when the weather is turning colder.

Thanks for looking.

Nice, Xuan! My pubicalyx 'Pink Silver' is being so stubborn about blooming! It's got one peduncle setting buds - it could have more "in there" where I can't see, as it's so huge, but I can't find any. It's grown like crazy this year (though it doesn't need more growth - it's massive!!!), but it just doesn't want to bloom this year. **sigh**

Don't ya love the musky fragrance?!

Hi
You have a very nice hoya. I wish my very large one would bloom for me.

Nice plant Xuan. There looks to be many more flowers on the way. Hoya pubicalax may be common but it is still a great Hoya. I love the scent of this ones blooms, not too much like perfume, it's just right.

Thanks, everyone.

I do love the smell of publicalyx. Have brought it inside to enjoy already :-)

Denise, that's very stubborn of your plant, indeed, 'cause this plant blooms very regularly for me, about once every three months or so. Its last blooming was August. Do you think yours needs some fertilizer, maybe?

Pretty bloom! Mine blooms pretty much most of the year also. It gets ignored for the most part and I rarely fertilize it. And it IS chilly today. 51 this morning. I've had enough winter. Only 69 for high today, luckily back to 70's by the weekend.

Xuan,

I use VF-11 on it all the time, but it is a very potbound plant. I imagine if I repotted it, it might be more cooperative, but the sheer size makes it impossible. I'm not sure they make hanging pots any bigger than the one it's in, anyway. But maybe I'll try a new top-dressing and a shot of bloom booster. It seems perfectly content to put on lots and lots of new growth, so I know it's not UNhappy. I guess it's just not happy enough to bloom, dang it!

Very nice Xuan...I just love Pubicalyx blooms, they are so big and colorful! I only have one bloom on mine right now.
Thanks for sharing!
